.. Is in your house?

I figured I would spark what could be an interesting topic, going deeper into your reasoning. Are you a weekend shoot R where you pick up some ammo fire it, and then are done, going home to a full magazine of hollow points for those "just in case situations".OR, are you the doomsday prepper with enough ammo to fight a mini war?

I am curious to understand what others have in their "inventory" and why?

ME: I personally I am rather new to guns, so I keep enough ammo in stock to cover always my next range trip, and to handle if anything comes me way. ;)

I collect used brass and can't stand the sight of empty ones, so they get reloaded. I have no idea of the number, but it's enough to get by.

Lots - I like being able to take pistols of several calibers to the range each week.

I got back into reloading after the recent ammo shortage. Loading brass as fast as I buy it. Never want to be in that position again. I figure if I keep enough to hold me over for 2 years, I'll be OK.

3K-.45 ACP Got it
2K-.38 Got it
1K-.357 Got it
4K-9MM Almost there
2K-.22LR. Need to stock more CCI, and less 'other'.
.223/5.56 is the tough one. I shot 6K last year, and have trouble keeping more than 4K on hand now. Let alone enough for 2 years. I need to get busy.

I don't stockpile a lot of ammo, but I could reload for a small army.

plenty!

seriously though, I am pretty sure its bad etiquette to ask people on an open forum how many guns they have or how much ammo they have, even if you are a long time member.

And most long time members won't be a tellin.

10,000 rounds should be a minimum. It's not a lot if you shoot around 300 every weekend, but don't screw up or the cops and the anti-gun mob will think you are a psycho :)

I always find it humorous when a news article says, "He had a large stockpile of ammo" when referring to <1,000 rounds.

I know it... I do too.

On the other hand, the average gun owner probably just has one box of ammo with a few missing from it from when they shot it new 10 or 20 years ago.

ive got 16 bullets.
while your at it would
you mind telling me
how much money you have?

i do keep track of rounds on the shelf and rounds shot each range visit; but in general i keep enough to be able to visit the range 1-2 times a month. I dont hoard but i do make sure i'm able to continue with my hobby for a bit should i not be able to find what i need at a given moment. And as I've only been in this hobby for a couple years and only have 2 calibers; it's been pretty easy to keep track and keep stocked.
