How much ammo...

I always find it humorous when a news article says, "He had a large stockpile of ammo" when referring to <1,000 rounds.

I know it... I do too.

On the other hand, the average gun owner probably just has one box of ammo with a few missing from it from when they shot it new 10 or 20 years ago.

ive got 16 bullets.
while your at it would
you mind telling me
how much money you have?

i do keep track of rounds on the shelf and rounds shot each range visit; but in general i keep enough to be able to visit the range 1-2 times a month. I dont hoard but i do make sure i'm able to continue with my hobby for a bit should i not be able to find what i need at a given moment. And as I've only been in this hobby for a couple years and only have 2 calibers; it's been pretty easy to keep track and keep stocked.

I do find it humorous that many gun owners are paranoid about saying this or that on the internet. If the govt knows you own a gun, the number of or amount of ammo is irrelevant. When they come for the one, they'll come for them all.

If you want to give yourself a good laugh, especially if you're any kind of a gun collector, see if you can write the news story about your own home if something went amiss and the gendarmerie came armed with a warrant and commenced to taking things away.

How would the lame-streams describe that scenario?

They would describe me as a terrorist.

I have some, both SD and "range" types. I figure to stack some this summer when the prices drop (for a short time like gas). .223/5.56 is already below $.30/rd and 9mm is $.23/rd both attractive. I could use some 158gr .357 and some more .308, as long as I get some before the next "shortage" I'll be OK. .22lr is another matter and discussion of it around here is like politics and religion. Have more than enough, was just out about this afternoon and picked up 3 - 50 round boxes.
I have at least two boxes for every weapon I own except for what is used on a regular basis!;) just like 357-RevolverGuy says! :)

I had plenty until I bought a new gun in a caliber I didn't own before. Now it starts all over again.

I shoot a little and collect a lot and reload. I am somewhere north of 10,000 with another 1000 9mm ready to load.

Makem as i need them

I keep about five hundred cleaned prepped and primed cartridges of each caliber. Load them as I need them. Enough to feed all my guns except of course the .22's
