I've been using the same dealer for the last 3-4 years, as he is very nice, and addresses you by name when you walk in the door.
This dealer is 10 miles from my house, not really too far.
His fee for a transfer is $15, including the $5 for the call.
The other day, while scrolling through the ffl list on GB, I found a dealer 5 miles from my house, that charges $9 including the call.
I will be using him for the first time next week when my new gun arrives. If all goes well, I will be using him exclusively.

So how much are you paying for transfers at your dealer?

gun transfer fees

Sounds like a good transfer fee with phone call. I use a pawn shop FFL and they charge $20.00 and $5.00 for phone call. Most FFL dealers charge $25.00 and up for transfer fees.

My "go to" FFL here in NJ charges $35 to do the transfer and I think it is $15 for the NICS check. The NICS check is done online now in NJ. Other local FFL's charge the same or similar.

Its all over the place here. The largest gun shop in the area, 30 miles from me, charges $50. Clearly he does not want to do transfers, wants you to buy from him. His loss, I will never buy from him.
The pawn shop I normally use charges $35 for the average walk in. I have cultivated a relationship with them and they do it for $20 for me. However, lately, thanks to a small gift I made to the lady who handles the transfers (an orphaned CZ50 magazine I had), I have gotten my last several transfers free. Can't beat that price.
A little kindness can go a long way. Also I have my CHL, so no calls required.

I go through my gun club which charges ten bucks for members and fifteen for non-members. Free call.

Being I live in the peoples republic of NY and we have much more hoops to jump threw most FFLs charge between $35 an $50 to send out or receive firearms in transit.

Just buying a gun from the dealer I have yet to see a dealer (Other than at a gun show) that charges for that paperwork.

Since our new and great "Safe Ac"t now outlaws transfers of long guns except to close relatives there is a charge just to go to the FFLs and run that paperwork. I have not done a transaction like that but If I remember right its about $15.

$55 for transfer + postage for a gun going out. $45 for a gun being shipped to him. The extra $10 is because someone has to drop a gun being shipped at the post office. The last gun I sold & had shipped cost me $90.

I'm sorry, but I think that is CRAZY expensive. I would be looking for some else, even if I had to drive a few miles.

If I'm getting a gun purchased online, I pay $25. I live in the Texarkana area, and if I'm just buying a gun in Texarkana, Arkansas, a dealer I know in Texas will just charge me $10. Once, I bought a gun in an Arkansas side shop, they called the dealer, and then let me take the gun to the dealer to get the paperwork(4473) done. Seemed odd, but made sense to me, since they already had seen my TX driver's license. I wasn't going to risk a Federal gun charge against me, just to skirt the paperwork.

I got my FFL in 1999..The local going rate was 25.00.... A bunch of places have gone up, but mine is still $25.00 ..Same for shipping out + usps cost... I try to be fair...

I don't think I've seen less than $75 in my area but not really an issue. Most handguns that interest me aren't on the "not too unsafe" roster.

PPT is set by law at $35. A lot of the FFLs don't like to do them so they make a 15 minute transaction take a couple of hours.

I pay $25.00 to my FFL. He has gone out of his way to meet me, early mornings, Sundays, etc. so I'll stick with him even though if I looked I think I could get it done for $20.00.

My guy went to $50-have not bought a gun since. I think $25 is a fair price to pay, what with the record keeping and all. I can't believe someobe is doing it for $9.

For 11 bucks and 10 more miles round trip you would go from someone who is "very nice" and actually knows you when you walk in the door to an unknown? Perhaps if you talked to the nice guy he might bring it down a tad but in my area the FFL's charge $25-50 plus the $10 call.

So much for earning your business. You may get what you pay for...

My favorite local gun shop will only do FFL to FFL, so most of the time I use a pawn shop that charges $20 (my last few purchases have been off this forum). The gun store charges $40 and as said by someone here, they really rather not do them at all.
