How much do you pay where you are for common ammo.

In Northern New Jersey,
9mm- $19 per box of 50
.22- $12 per box of 100
.32 auto- $24 per box of 50
.38 special- $25 per box of 50

How about you?

.22 LR ammo, almost none existent
"A few months ago" .22LR, 225 rounds Rem Golden Bullets $9.97 (Wal Mart)

.22 Mag (CCI) $13.47/50 rounds CCI (WM)

9mm Ball $13.97/50 rounds (WM)
9mm SD ammo, $24/20 rounds

.38 Special FMJ, $16.99/50 rounds
.38 Special SD ammo, $26/20 rounds

45 Auto Ball, $21.57/50 rounds (WM)
45 Auto SD ammo, $29.95/20 rounds

Price at Walmarts here are the same as above. I load everything except 22lr and shotgun.

I reload using plated bullets that tend to cost about a nickel more than cast, so my costs could be reduced by using cast bullets. However, local indoor ranges have a strong preference for plated bullets because they are so much cleaner shooting and I prefer plated for the same reason.

38 spl. runs me about 15 cents per round to reload or 7.50 for a box of 50. BTW, don't own a 9mm but the costs for 9mm should be the same as the 38 spl. Add about 3 cents per round for 357 Magnum due to the higher cost for powder.

40 S&W costs about 19 cents per round, or 8.50 for a box of 50.

45 ACP costs me about 21.5 cents per round, or 10.75 for a box of 50.

308 Winchester is a bit more expensive that one might expect but that is due to my preference for Match Grade bullets that average about 52 cents each. Total cost per round for the 308 is running 84 cents per round, or 16.80 for a box of 20. If I were to use a cheap Hunting bullet I could probably cut the cost by 20 cents or a bit more per round.

BTW, it was the cost of 308 that initially drove me to reloading. Once there I decided I might as well start reloading my pistol calibers and 5 years of saving my brass gave me a good head start. Not really saving that much, however I am shooting a LOT more.

This week, I finally found bricks of my favorite .22LR; Federal 510 (40gr round-nose lead solid) at the same price I paid last year ($22.90 / 500) I was also happy to find 4 bricks. It was a good week.

The last 6 months (since the idiot killed the kids), I have bought ammo ONLY at WalMart, because prices and availability elsewhere has been ridiculous.

9mm - between .22-.25/round
38 - between .36-.40/round
.22 - have not bought much in the past 6 months, I refuse to overspend, last time i did was at .05/round remington golden bullet bulk packs
.40 - between .29-.35/rd
.45 - between .36-.43/rd

I buy only Federal and Winchester in 9, 40 and 45, the federal is the cheaper of the 2. 38 I buy mostly winchester, but some remington

Until very recently it was rare to find any handgun ammo locally. Still the best deals I've found have been online.

I paid 30 cents a round for 9mm Luger, 34 cents a round for 380 auto, and 12 cents a round for 22 lr the last I ordered. These cost include shipping and taxes. The 9mm and 380 auto were brick prices and the 22 lr was for Fed auto mach 325 rounds.

i just stopped by the walmart in my area (southern california) and they had no 9mm or anything really. we are still dead dry here. I swung by turners and they had a few boxs of 9mm pmc bronze and they wanted 29.99 for a 50 count box. buncha bs. i did not buy

Walmart. last week, CCI mini mag $7.47/100. Limit 300 per customer. Sent a buddy down, picked up another 300. At least I found some .22 ammo.

Remington bucket of bullets (22lr 1400 count) for $64.99.

9mm Winchester NATO $15.99 for a box of 50

WWB 45acp is going for $49.99 for 100 rounds

WWB 40cal is going for $36.99 for 100 rounds

Winchester 44 mag 50 count @ $44.99

Winchester 45lc 50 count box @ $39.99

Winchester 38sp 130gr @ $22.99 for 50 rounds

AE 5.56 62gr green tip @ $9.99 for a box of 20

CCI mini mags 100 count box @ $7.59

These ate Academy prices.

I ordered SD ammo from ammunition depot. Their prices were decent on a 50 round box of .40 180 Federal HST's (33.87) considering Cabela's wants $27.99 for the same ammo in a 20 round box. They also a good variety of 9mm and 45 ACP, mostly SD Ammo. Shipping isn't too salty......

Locally I'm able to get:

.22 Mini Mags @ 7.50 per 100 box
9mm non-defensive (usually S&B or PMC) @ 13.50 per 50 box
