I was cleaning out the garage this morning and came across a nice old 3-1/2# Michigan Pattern Plumb axe.

I started to pull the fasteners, but decided to take a break and snap some photos.
Count 'em... There were ten screws and Nails. I have seen more! Nice handle repair too...

Hay, when you are back in the sticks with just a junk tool box, that is for car use only;

that handle was probably lucky to get wire and tape as a fixer upper, until it got home.

When it got home, it got the , I'll fix it later, thing.
I think some of us can think that this might have been the way it went ? !

Can't imagine being far from home in the sticks and all I have is junk tools. My backwoods kits consist of the highest quality tools. To each his own, however for those that have junk tools or no tools there is a common name for these folks. VICTIMS.

Some people don't keep high quality tools in their vehicle in case of theft.

Timely post. I've had a camp ax head on my work bench for at least a year. I kept saying I was going to replace the handle but bought a new ax instead when smoking season rolled around. I need a cheap camp ax though to leave outside by the wood pile to make kindling. I've checked the local stores and nobody carries ax and hatchet handles. I guess people just don't replace those anymore. Anyway ordered one a few minutes ago on Amazon.

Most "victims" by your definition would be all poor folk with limited resources. :rolleyes: Sad view of life...

The last one I bought was a maul. That thing was fun until I remembered how awful my back was lol. It's been sitting in the shed for a long time.
