How often do you shoot ?

Not enough either even though my club is only a couple miles from my house. The inlaws live in the woods so I do bring the 15-22 and M&P 22 pistol along when we visit and boys and I shoot there. As for club shooting a couple times a month - or a couple times every few months - more in the summer.

At least once a week, more if I get the chance and depending how my ammo holds out.

I use to love shooting out side [back yard]. Someone said, to many rules at the range. We do need those rules to have it safe BUT not being able to use your holster --sucks. I'm a hip shooter
and like cowboy shooting. I been thinking about setting up a little 25 ft. indoor range in my basement. I know the law will be knocking on my door if i did that. All you guys that can shoot in your back yard. You are very lucky !!!! Can i come over ?

S&W357, You can come out and shoot on my range any time you want.

I'll average shooting something about twice a week. My range is in my back yard, however, and some weeks I may not shoot, and the next week shoot every day.

I just came back to this sport after a 8 year AWOL , but before was an average of twice a month.

I shoot trap averaging about six range trips a month when the weather is nice and shoot pistols indoors during the colder months with about the same frequency.

Can i ask with range time and ammo, whats the cost per month?

My 'life getting in the way' story involves my job driving a semi truck. I'll get home about every other weekend. Once a month I'll spend the whole weekend with my girlfriend doing a big date type thing like aquarium and coke factory in Atlanta, the other weekend is all mine. I'll start at the gun store, move on to the range, maybe a gun show, eventually end up at the local bar. Go drinking with friends, walking in the woods...

One great memory is my two best friends and I went way out in the woods to camp. We had a .22lr, a .17hmr, and a fishing pole, among a bunch of camping gear and abundance of beer. The idea is we stayed alive on whatever we got. We made small game stews and stir fry with fish. Of course we had the cooking stuffs, a big bag of spices and sauces, and a cooler full of vegetables.

I have a small range out back and can shoot out to 200 yards. It's nice but with back surgery I'm not able to brush hog it this year and can't use it. My father-in-law gave me a year's range pass for Christmas at Williams Gun Sight and have been using that. It's a pretty nice facility with covered benches but only a hundred yard rifle range.
What I do like about shooting at a public range like that is the opportunity to talk with other shooters and make it somewhat a social event too. I know the last time I shot there I had my S&W Model 17 with me which got a lot of interest by the younger shooters and range master. I heard a lot of "my dad used to have one of those". I also had the chance to educate a newbie shooter about my 1911 as he'd never seen one before. I'd have let him shoot it but his girlfriend/wife was in a hurry to go. If we don't take an interest in these new shooters they may lose interest and we need these new shooters now.
All of this I can't get shooting alone on my range and it's good to get out and visit the range. Fortunately I bought up a fair amount of 22lr last year and have ammo to shoot. I've been having to buy 45acp though since I had a basement flood last spring and a lot of my reloading stuff is in boxes. I still have reloads from other calibers to shoot.
I took off last week from my regular once a week trip now as deer hunters would have been there sighting in for last Friday's opener. I'll likely go next week again and may try a new indoor range once the weather gets too cold for outdoor shooting.
