Deputy Daryl patrols near a friend's farm about twenty miles from here. I used to hunt that farm, but coyotes moved in and killed most everything they could catch; including goats and a burro. The teenage girls started killing coyotes. Deputy Daryl sometimes drops by to check up on everyone, and often hits his siren to activate the coyotes howling response so the teens can locate them.

I saw him last week toting a Sig SP2022 FDE 9mm. It had black stocks on it, I mentioned I liked the contrast. Deputy Daryl did not, said he had a FDE set in small back-ordered for several months and had no idea when or if they would arrive.

I own a SP2022 and SP2340, gave my son two SP2022's as well. So I have a few spare sets of stocks. Three sets of small, two in FDE. I threw a set into the car, and ran into him today at the farm. I gave him the stocks and he lost it.

The Sig was given to him by the widow of a man he served with in the Coast Guard. He passed away two years ago this week. Putting the gun back to it's original state with the proper size stocks so he could shoot it properly simply over-whelmed the guy.

Having lost both my oldest and youngest brothers, I felt his pain. I had no idea of the history of the gun until today. I sometimes question my buying various bits and pieces and parts when I find them cheap, whether I need them or not, but today I was glad I have that quirk.

I still have a few sets if I break my own.

Thanks for thinking of him. As noted, a simple act of kindness can have amazing results. Maybe not so much where you live, but officers are under-appreciated in much of the nation. Fewer young folks apply for LE jobs every year. Many departments are understaffed, and cannot recruit enough to fill vacancies.

Best Regards, Les
