Would someone be kind enough to walk me through the process of posting pictures? I am more than a little bit in awe of the quality of pics I see posted here (and I know I cannot duplicate the quality of those pics), but there are times when I would like to put up a picture. Feel free to PM me. Thanks :D

Have you tried searching for that topic on the site? It would probably be on a sticky.

Well, I tried to find the link but couldn't. If you use Photobucket, you can do it this way:

Go to your Photobucket library, find the photo that you want to post and click the gear in the upper right corner of the thumbnail and a drop down menu will appear. Click "get media links". Then click on IMG CODE. That automatically posts the photo to your clipboard. Then, go to your post, right click and select paste.

Photobucket is free, just google it.:D:cool:

1. Hit the paperclip icon.

2. Go to manage attachments, and hit "Browse" (to find the photo on your computer you want to upload). Double-click on it when you find it.

3. Mash that "Upload" button. You will see your attachment thumbnail file name.

4. Hit the "Preview Post" button and you will see a preview of the photo you just uploaded.

Do this one or more times (for multiple photos). finish your post, hit preview again (to make sure it's how you want it to look), and then hit submit.

Thank you so much !!!!!! With the visuals (excellent for me), I believe I will be able to do it now. BTW, only us southerners "mash" buttons :D:D:D

Attached thumbnails are OK, but the threads are easier to read if the pic is embedded like this:
attachment.php

Mcwsky09,
This pic was inserted using the Quick Reply. Ask me how.

You can also go to a website, right click on a picture and select "Copy image URL", come back here and select the insert image icon and paste the web address in the space provided. I just pulled this image off eBay.

OK, I give up. Tell us how. I tried to COPY & PASTE, but couldn't get that to work.

I have mastered the thumbnail, but also do not know how to attach a big picture. Help !!!

PHP:
Alright, now that I have a little time, here it is:

There are two ways to embed a picture on a site like this. Both end in the same result which is some code in your post. For ease of practice, I'm going to use the Smith & Wesson Forum logo at the top of the page as an example. It looks like this when inserted as a pic:
header_logo.jpg

The code looks like this:
http://smith-wessonforum.com/images/misc/header_logo.jpg[/IMG

I left off the last ] so you could see the actual code. The key here is the IMG tags.

The picture needs to be on the internet somewhere. It doesn't matter where. I use Photobucket. It's free and works great for storing pictures. Plus they provide all the code you'll need to put pictures into forums like this.

What you do is:
[LIST=1]
[*]Right click on the picture you want.
[*]Click on Properties.
[*]Copy the URL or location address. If using Firefox, right click then click Copy Image Location.
[*]Then paste it into the post and put [img] in front and at the end of the URL.
[/LIST]
It will look something like what I posted above.

Now, there is a slightly easier way. Copy the location address (URL). Then click on the little
insertimage.gif
button. It will open a window where you can paste the image location. Then, when you click OK, it will insert the code for you. This button is available in the Quick Reply window. ;)

The process is super easy once you learn how to "talk" to the post. It can be used for any picture you see on the internet. That's how I got the race car. I just copied the location from the picture and inserted as described above.

Any questions?

There is a lot more you can do if you know html stuff, but I'll just stick to pics for now. Give it a try. Reply to this and put the Smith & Wesson Forum picture in your post.
