I agree 100% with this article, and I deplore the
gun-grabbers and misguided politicians who want to
use a horrible tragedy to justify more idiotic gun
control. If it was that simple, why not just pass a
law that outlaws murder? ...oh, wait, we already
have such laws, don't we? It's my opinion that "gun
free zones" are "open fire zones" for crazies who
want to kill innocent people knowing that the
law-abiding in such zones are totally unable to
defend themselves. Such "feel good" laws only serve
to get people killed, and the terrible incident in
Newtown, Connecticut serves as an object lesson in
this regard. It's time to spot the deranged and get
them some professional help before they go out of
control, not to post-facto blame the people who
didn't do it or blame inanimate objects which have no
possible innate will to commit mayhem. If you want to
blame something, blame the press for publicizing such
insanity so people teetering on the brink of doing
something similar will be inspired to go ahead and
emulate what they see and hear. Or blame the violent
video games and movies that de-personalize and
exploit mayhem. Or maybe blame the ACLU for wanting
to eliminate the influence of religion in our
communities. Trying to ban guns to prevent murder can
be compared to banning spoons to prevent people from
overeating. It's a no-brainer. The wild-eyed
gun-banners are scuttling out from under their rocks
now, predictably. Their rants are emotional but
really baseless. Their calls for gun control need to
be countered vigorously with logic.

That's a word that doesn't seem to exist in their
vocabulary.

As always sir your posts are well thought out and well written.
But I would ask , where will your statement... "Their calls for gun control need to be countered vigorously with logic" happen at ?
On TV, newspaper, or as you sited, in Canada?

"We" lost in November. Actually we lost a long time before that.

"We" can't hold violent games, movies or songs accountable, the problem is too many guns. That's what I'm hearing.

Let's look at todays headlines:

Bloomberg, House Dems call for stricter gun control.

Rep. McCarthy: Conversation about gun control 'has to go forward'

Michigan GOP changes concealed weapon and recall rules in marathon session.

You're exactly right in your opinion, and I agree completely that gun control should not be the first thing thought of by our society today.

But it is.
And it will continue to be.
And changes will come fast now.

GF last statement is right . Whats going to happen now is all mags over 10round will be illegal. will be NO grandfather clause. YOU turn them in or it will be fed offence.
I am not crying wolf this is going to go down this time. There are TOO many that have jumped on this one .
Fri was very sad day for many , but it done way more to the rest of us .

"We must open a conversation On gun Control"

Already heard this from several anti-gun politicians...

And the conversations first question should be "Do you believe the Constitution is the supreme law of the United States?"

"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

Benjamin Franklin

Everybody, especially medias are talking about the shootout here in FRANCE, and of course " the gun control only solution" is on the top of !
Despite this i was very surprise to hear a respectable PhD, psychiatric expert (asked about to elaborate a theory about the motivation of the killer...) said " ...that a further gun control won't, and cannot be a solution to this kind of crime..." (btw he has lived few years of his youth in the USA).
But as GF stated, changes will come for you, i am afraid about that....be prepared.
Regards.
