I agree 100% with this article, and I deplore the
gun-grabbers and misguided politicians who want to
use a horrible tragedy to justify more idiotic gun
control. If it was that simple, why not just pass a
law that outlaws murder? ...oh, wait, we already
have such laws, don't we? It's my opinion that "gun
free zones" are "open fire zones" for crazies who
want to kill innocent people knowing that the
law-abiding in such zones are totally unable to
defend themselves. Such "feel good" laws only serve
to get people killed, and the terrible incident in
Newtown, Connecticut serves as an object lesson in
this regard. It's time to spot the deranged and get
them some professional help before they go out of
control, not to post-facto blame the people who
didn't do it or blame inanimate objects which have no
possible innate will to commit mayhem. If you want to
blame something, blame the press for publicizing such
insanity so people teetering on the brink of doing
something similar will be inspired to go ahead and
emulate what they see and hear. Or blame the violent
video games and movies that de-personalize and
exploit mayhem. Or maybe blame the ACLU for wanting
to eliminate the influence of religion in our
communities. Trying to ban guns to prevent murder can
be compared to banning spoons to prevent people from
overeating. It's a no-brainer. The wild-eyed
gun-banners are scuttling out from under their rocks
now, predictably. Their rants are emotional but
really baseless. Their calls for gun control need to
be countered vigorously with logic.
That's a word that doesn't seem to exist in their
vocabulary.
