Wife going nuts over new M&P22. Awaiting delivery of my M&P40 Pro. Our first pistols. Always said, "I am not into guns." But frequent visits to our two sons who are avid hunters and who have arsenals of pistols , I gradually got to where I could shoot fairly accurately and then I shot a clip from his m&p40 and I was hooked. I am not going to tell you how far away the skeet pucks were away and how many I hit because you wouldn't believe me. Beginners luck but all the same, a few years ago I could not hit anything. So I did not want to try. But the shooting I did this past few weeks was not a complete accident. Just an accumulation over time. And now I am interested.

We will be doing a lot of shooting on our place in central ky, and carrying the m&p40 with me on the tractor.

We live near Huntsville AL and shoot on land of friends near by.

Primary motivation that lead to getting involved in shooting was home protection. Was getting increasingly uneasy with no gun in the house as we observed crime rate build up. But mostly we just plan a on enjoying shooting as a hobby, but not vey competitive except with self to improve skill.

Haven't made up mind about carrying concealed however we have applied for permit.

Welcome from Wisconsin!

You're doing the prudent thing to get your concealed carry permit. Even if you don't plan on carrying on a regular basis there may come a time when that inner voice of yours gives a warning. I trust my "Spidey sense" all the time even though I always carry. Living in a large metro area might have something to do with that & even the 'burbs are being affected these days.

Thanks MSG Glenn. What you mentioned about permit is exactly what was stirring in my mind.

I was US Navy Submariner during Cuban missile crisis. I shot something from deck of the vessel one day when we were doing a surface exercise. The captain allowed some of the crew to fire a pistol and an M1 at some water inflated condoms set bobbin on the surface. With a pistol there was not a chance of hitting anything because of the range so I got no real idea of pistol shooting. I have no idea what kind of pistol it was, Navy issue, but I know it was not a revolver.

Welcome aboard from the great state of Pennsylvania!

Didn't know that about Florida

We visit relatives in Florida and I was just wondering about what I had to be wary of as I crossed into Florida. At least now I know it is not hostile to concealed weapons and need to just know and respect their laws. I am doing a lot of reading trying to get over being self-conscious over carrying. Are there any towns to be concerned about. We visit Vero Beach and Orlando mostly.
