Any hollow point ammo had to be removed from the shelves

To make it worse I tried ordering online to be picked up at the store bullseye powder was told it also cannot be shipped to NJ because it was some how related to HP,s ,it can be bought at the store but not ordered online what the hay is going on ?
I ended up with a pound of Unique they just sold the last two Bullseye 10 minutes before I got there

Citizens of the People's Republic of New Jersey were always able to purchase hollow point ammunition. It was only illegal to carry it in public, but since only LEO's and retired officers could carry concealed it was a moot point. Citizens could possess hollow point ammo at home and for use on the range. P.S. Retired law enforcement officers also cannot carry hollow points. The enlightened legislature calls them Dum-Dum ammo.

Wasn't HP always a no no in NJ??

As to the powder who knows:eek:

There have always been "restrictions" on hollow points in NJ. Likes most gun laws in NJ though, the written laws for HPs are very convoluted and full of exceptions. Most LEO don't even know the rules and wrongly assume that HPs in general are illegal for possession.

No new laws have been passed though. Bass Pro is likely just misinterpreting the law and playing it safe.

Stupid.....

Does law enforcement use them? Just another step to a total ban.

I think a soft lead 158 grain SWC would do a trick and many people advocate full WCs. Do they consider cruciform dum dums to be 'hollow points'. Probably they do in NJ. Don't matter. The slug works just fine.

Isn't it Detroit that prohibits cops from using HP ammo, so they have to use some bullet that looks like a FMJ, but expands? No end to the idiocy among those which make gun laws and regulations. I think my opinions about Gov. Christie's stance on guns are (or should be) shared by many shooters.

Banning bullseye makes no sense. You will get higher velocity and more powerful performance out of Unique. Boy am I glad I don't live in NJ..

Just one of the many differences between peoples republics and free states.

NJ Gov needs to hold hands and get a hug from Barack Hussein Obama again. Anything that's difficult makes him cry!!
I'd give Federal EFMJ's a try. They are an expanding FMJ bullet. Better than non-expanding bullets. Federal has a line called Guard Dog that looks like a full metal jacketed. The bullets are long and have internal serrations with a silicone implant in the nose that causes it to expand. Available in 9MM, 40 S&W, and 45 ACP.

Well, No knowing the OPs knowledge of the Law here in NJ.
There is no Ban on HPs in NJ (SUPRISINGLY) They are legal for sale in NJ!
There is no ba on powder in NJ!

This unfortunatly is A self proclaimed ban by Your employer!
BP will not ship ammo or Powder/Primers to NJ.
Their lose!

Now you want to talk about something else STUPID they do
Military discount. Only on the 15th to the 22nd of each month.
Not valid on firearms, Ammo, Reels the list goes on anon its on their corp website,, Oh and did I mention no discount on sale items either.

Ran into 3 Guys At Cabelas in Christiana yesterday. Same comments as others that have been to BP in AC.
Myself I'll stick with Cabelas.
Anxious to see how long they keep the doors open in AC after the Tax Abatements stop and the Co has to pay taxes.

Back in 2008 when I worked with someone with Detroit PD contacts the PD issued FMJ, as I understand it 180 grain Speer Lawman. Word under the table is that a lot of the front line officers were carrying Speer Gold Dots in an "extra" magazine. Today the Detroit PD has been through a bunch of Chiefs and the current Chief seems to be the a good one. I rather suspect today the Detroit PD is using something a bit more modern than FMJ.

I think the governor of NJ needs to answer for those stupid laws/regulations if he is going to run for president. He may not be responsible for making those laws, but he enforces them. I'd like to see him take some heat for that.

The gov of any state does not write or enforce laws. It's the moronic liberal factions. Yes he could choose to not sign the crappy laws, that is on him.

Is HP really illegal? Wow! How about driving? Can I still do that?

I can't sleep, so I'll rant a bit, if you all don't mind... Arik's comment sparked some thoughts. Since driving is not in the constitution, it is considered a "privilege," not a "right."

What these people don't understand is that the whole idea behind behind our constitution was to provide us citizens a truly free life, to pursue life, liberty, and happiness. The power of the people needed to be established as stronger than the power of the government; that was the whole basis for our 'rights' being spelled out. This was really a very revolutionary thing to happen in the world, with France paving the way for us in the modern interpretation of a republic.

Our system was a very unique set up in the world, and certainly goes against human nature (to aggregate power and dominate others in order to survive), and the natural state of the human condition (to be oppressed by a ruling regime). In this country, sadly, I truly believe we are just on a long, slow slide into that natural state of allowing ourselves to be oppressed. All I can say is for all of us to engage your representatives, and demand representation. It really does have an impact, but very, very few take the time.

The only reason we even have amendments to the Constitution was that the authors felt that they needed to be explicitly clear in spelling out certain rights (central to freedom and liberty), to ensure they were not able to be infringed upon, ever. This, of course, includes our right to keep and bear arms. The amendments were never intended to list the things that we were 'allowed' to have, the Constitution and Bill of Rights were intended to provide all freedoms to pursue life, liberty, and happiness, without oppression from a ruling class/government. However, the ruling class and government have slowly, but surely grasped control of the process and have legislated things contrary to the will of the people.

What I'm saying, a lot of folks on this board understand. But, young people are not taught these things in school anymore, and don't understand and appreciate what our system of government is supposed to be. Troublesome.

Thanks again for the rant.
