Any experience with them? Recently acquired a 12 ga over and under made in 2000 I think.

No experience with them, but I have noticed most seem to have pretty decent wood - Turkish walnut?

Yes. The fit and finish isn't great compared to other shotguns. But those other guns cost a lot more too.

They make side by side shotguns that are marketed under the CZ trademark. I've heard good things about them, and picked a couple up off the rack that seem to be pretty nice quality. I've been thinking about picking one up.

Haven't shot the o/u's (only handeled them) but the sxs's are a good value for the money, all things considered.
Neither are svelte field guns, both a bit clunky compared to a Parker or Spanish gun but both are serviceable and seem sturdy.
Fit and finish are what I'd expect at the price.
Much finer English game guns can be had used in sxs.

I believe Huglo just makes the receiver but they may make a complete gun too. Many gun companies use the Huglo receiver as the base of their shotguns, so it depends on them to go for quality wood and finish. As a receiver, Huglo is excellent quality. CZ, Dehaan, and others make really nice shotguns featuring the Huglo receiver.

I had a CZ 20 ga. (sure were made by Huglu). I really liked that gun, excellent wood to metal fit, great lock up, well balanced, but I could not shoot it. I finally figured out it had a little too much cast off, and it just didn't fit me. Take a look down the length of the entire gun and see if the stock slightly angles outward. It wasn't much maybe 1/8" or a little more at most.

Huglu shotguns are made in Turkey and have been around for quite a while. CZ-USA imports them as the Ringneck, Bobwhite, Redhead, Sharptail, and several other models in both SxS and O/U. Good solid guns that are well finished but somewhat heavy for gauge compared to more expensive guns. The barrels are not blued, but rather black chromed. I have three of them in several configurations and am very happy with them. Have been known for heavy and gritty trigger pulls in the past but I haven't heard many complaints lately.
They're generally nice looking guns, but I've heard both good and bad on them. They'd probably last the average hunter a couple lifetimes, but might be short lived on the trap or skeet ranges where guns may shoot several hundred rounds per day.
I bought a new double trigger, SXS 28 ga. Sold it at a loss just to get rid of it and am glad it is gone. It would double if the left barrel was shot first and I figured having it fixed would just be throwing more money into junk. Larry

I have a CZ Redhead, made by Huglu. I purchased it around 2003 as I recall. The receiver is silver in color (they said it is stainless), and the barrels are black. The only complaint I have is that a little blacking comes off the barrels every time I clean it. I am not used to seeing this phenomenon. It locks up tight and I have had no functional issues with it. Wood is very nice and fits the metal very well.

I have a Dehaan 28 Gauge side by side which was manufactured by Huglu. It is my rainy day grouse gun and one of my favorite shotguns in the dove field. It has been a great performer. Overall I would give Huglu shotguns good marks. They can be a little crude and some a tad clunky but over all they are solid well built shotgun.
Something to be aware of when purchasing a Turkish shotgun you will get hit hard if you decide to sell it down the road. They just don't bring much on the used market. If you're buying that is plus; buy used and let someone else suck up the depreciation.

I had a CZ Ringneck SXS 20 gauge with removable chokes, beautiful swirly walnut, and nice engraving. It had a Prince of Wales stock with a slim Schnable forened and nice color case hardening on the receiver and I kick myself for getting rid of it. I loved that gun and it was a great value and CZ stopped making the Ringneck and the double trigger Bobwhite and now have a SXS with a full pistol grip and single trigger that looks a little goofy.

I had the same shotgun in 28 gauge. I was not impressed with the color case - just ok and I suspect it might have been a Ruger-style "inked" finish and not truly color case hardened.
As far as "hit or miss", yes that's true. And "miss" as in "misfire"... they were known for having misfire issues. I had to send mine back for repair after repeated misfiring (light hits) and sold it after I got it back.
The price is attractive. Unfortunately in O/U and SxS you get what you pay for.

Very strange to hear this. I have literally thousands of rounds through mine, in 20 g. Not a single misfire, or any other issue. It's truly been a wonderful shotgun and I've havested countless birds over the past 12 or so years I've had it.

I've had two side by sides a 12 & 28. One of my skeet buddies has a 20 and a 410. Ours were fine, the trigger pivot pin kept walking out on the 12. Another skeet buddy has a 28 and the single selective trigger has a pull of 10+ lbs pull.
They probably won't stand up to day in day out target shooting (no one would expect them to), they're a great entry level SxS or O/U. CZ USA has excellent customer service.

I have had mostly good luck with them over the years. By that, I mean to say I have sold a boatload and had relatively few problems with the Huglu line. Maybe the bad ones were built on a Monday after Yuri spent a hard night on the vodka.
