Well, me and a few others.
The three Texans were Billy Gibbons, Dusty Hill, and Frank Beard - otherwise known as ZZ Top.
Formed in Houston in 1969, these guys have been rockin' ever since. I had seen them a couple of times in the past, but always in a huge venue with massive sets and backup dancers.
This was a smaller show, probably 1500 or so. It was three guys, a drumkit, and a stack of amps playing a more blues-oriented set than I'd seen previously. Kicking off the show with "Beer Drinkers and Hell Raisers," the tone was set. After a few blues tunes, they performed a Jimi Hendrix cover, "Foxy Lady." The encores were "La Grange" and "Tush," finishing on a more high-energy theme.
They did bring out the furry guitars towards the end of the show, but otherwise it was just a 95-minute straight-ahead jam.
Here are some pics. Anyone else enjoy these guys?
