I absolutely, positively, unequivocally hate.........

I do almost everything around the house. Plumbing, electrical, carpentry, masonry, all mechanical repairs to home, car and equipment - etc. I only pet peeve is gardening! I'd almost rather go to the Dentist - lol.

We have almost everything done here for us by our HOA. They maintain the lawn, trees, bushes, fertilize, mulch, apply week killers and pest control for mosquitos, etc and they actually do a very good job over all. About the only thing they do not do is plant our garden annuals and perennials in our garden. They would have maintained our garden had we left what the builder had planted however that was nothing exiting - all green - no color! No matter how much we water, feed and care for some of the plants and flowers I wind up replacing at least 2 per month. Many simply can not handle the heat we've been having this Summer and some are more fragile than others. Add on top of that I can't stand doing that kind of stuff and refuse to research how to do it properly - just not my thing!! What I have been doing is replacing all the more fragile flowers with hardy plants and thankfully there are some that have lots of color.

So far I have cut 2 sprinkler lines and one gutter drain line - LOL!! Yea, I fixed them but when it's 98ºF that makes it a real chore. This is just one thing I have zero patience for! I've even offered the Community landscapers money on the side but they are fearful they will get caught and lose their jobs - understandable. SO..... I will have probably replaced almost all of the fragile flowers with plants by the end of the Summer and can't wait until I do not have to deal with this stuff in the Fall!!

There are private landscapers as well, but they do not want to be bothered to do only a couple of small plants. When ever my wife mentions something about the garden, I want to hide - LOL!! It's just about the only chore I hate, hate, hate!

So what is your least favorite thing that you have to do?

I "planted" fake flowers in the rock garden yrs ago, January in NH they still looked great! Poking out of the snow.
Now you can get fake bushes - I hate trimming bushes!

Ah......

...the hazards of modern living!:D

There's not a whole lot that I DISLIKE around the house, considering that I don't do much nowadays. But if I think I can come up with something. I definitely don't garden. I've tried but I'm lousy at it. One thing is that my health has improved with the diabetic regimen that I've been working on for about a year, so I'm glad to be able to do ANYTHING. My Dad could do anything, and did, but he said he would rather have AIDS than be a painter. The guy that lived next door was in the National Guard and he painted EVERYTHING. Some of the guys at the state armory even painted the Willard Hirsch sculpture that was placed in the entrance of all SC National Guard armories. Boy did that raise a stink. Here is the story.

I don't mind gardening. I take a bit of pride in growing fruits and veggies in desert sandy soil.

The one thing I hate is pruning especially junipers. I'm allergic to those things, especially the pollen. Speaking of allergies, my allergies have gotten better after I started taking 15K vitamin D daily last September- I don't get sick either!

The two things I won't mess with around the house - water leaks and anything electrical. My neighbor is a handyman at a couple of big apartment complexes - a little cash goes a long way!

I don't mind gardening either, but as I get older, I tend toward low maintenance plants.

No spraying, no pruning, just throw half a bag of Rose-Tone under it every year- WIN!

I hate washing dishes. I did it too much as a kid. When I had this house built the contractor was amused when I brought my 12 quart chili pot to the sales office to make sure the dishwasher could handle it.

Mom used to do all the gardening and turned the yard into a butterfly waystation. Now that the dementia has taken away her ability to garden it has turned into a jungle. Eventually I will replace about 80% of the garden areas with grass again so all I have to do is mow, edge and weedeat.

We don't call it gardening here, we call it yard work. I love doing yard work. I've got six acres of yard that I actually mow around the house. I've got a 72 inch finish mower I pull behind my Kubota tractor and a Kubota zero turn with a 64 inch deck that I do most of the mowing with. Then I use a 48 inch John Deere riding mower for close in mowing around the house and my shop, and I finish it all of with my Stihl weed eater. It usually takes me about 3 hours start to finish to mow and trim my yard.

I also tend to my trees that canopy over my long driveway and have brilliant fall colors. Lastly, I always have a lot of colorful attractants that are potted on the back deck and front porch to help bring in Mrs. Faulkner's hummingbirds and butterflies, plus a large flower bed along the front porch. I love doing yard work and keeping the plants healthy.

My most hated domestic chore is changing the linen on the bed.

If I can't do it from the seat of my mower or my tractor, I pretty much don't like it. I do lots of other chores, but I don't care for them. Planting flowers is waaaay down on my list of things to do.
