I Actually Found .22LR Ammo!

I went to a local gun show on Friday and saw lots of 22LR...problem was, it was still crazy stupid high priced. Couple tables had the Rem 525 bricks, and I thought...wow, I got mine @ Dicks for $24.95 last month, and you are asking $65....good luck with that. I just shook my head at the guy and walked away. I think most people have realized they are getting ripped off and aren't buying. My hope is come the close of the show on Sunday, they still have it all sitting on the table...eh, it is just a dream probably.

Western Pa is still a .22 LR and .22 WMR desert wasteland.

Checking Gun Joker, er broker- there is all the .22 LR you could ever shoot including some rotten gun store selling their recent 29,000 round shipment of Remington Golden Bullet for over 11 cents per round and people are bidding! Complete insanity.

As long as we have gun stores selling off their new shipments of ammo to the highest idiot bidder on the net the local unavailability of .22 ammo will continue for a long time!

Had a family friend of many years calls my wife in distress. She had purchased a pink .22 rifle for her granddaughter and could not find .22 ammo. Asked if could help?

Somewhere in NC a little girl is getting ready to receive a care package.

All 3 of the Walmart stores near me stock the ammo late at night when all the re-stocking is done. Most times the store I sometimes find ammo at they are putting the ammo on the shelf ~ 1AM to 2AM. There are very few people in the store at that time and no one near the ammo case. Of course .22 ammo actually being delivered to the store is rare and sometimes they don't see a box for 6 weeks or more.

I just got lucky that store had a case they opened @ 2PM and there was a brick left when I asked @5PM. I was shocked that's why I made this thread... (and a full brick too, not 225 rounds)

At the WMs her-they stock at 6Am--and arent supposed to sell till8am--however,the same faces are inline every morning-so when I get there about10am--not a single box of any type or amount of .22 is to be seen. They at one time--WERE supposed to start limiting those faces--to puchases every 2-3 days--for .22--but have yet to instill that store policy.

Two of my Nephews got as part of their christmas gifts last year--400 rounds of .22 each--another Nephew got 100 rounds of 9mm. They always check but never find any. Id been "collecting" ammo all year and managed to get that for them. this year--the ammo-well has been VERY dry--so I cant say if ill beable to give them any this year?

I didnt know what my BiL and Sis and a brother needed? so all they got was Salsa Verde--and one of those wooden "wildlife" ammo boxes--and maybe some other item? just remembered--they all got some spices and beef jerky id picked up at the last gun show.

This year--if allgoes well?I AIM--to get one of my Great nephews--a .22 rifle, and the others a.22 of their own. Yep--my three great nieces love to shoot at their ages. :-))

God bless you brother! God bless you!

My daughters are now grown and gone. When last they were able to come home for a visit, I asked them what they wanted to do. In unison they replied, "Eat chicken and dumplings and go shooting!" They gave a 15-22, several 10-22's, a 18-3 and a Marvel .22 LR 1911 conversion a real work out. I keep my eyes open and buy .22 LR ammo when and where I see it. Sometimes... I spend more than I'd like. But, when the girls come home for a visit, my wife always has plenty of chicken and dumplings and cornbread ready. And I, I always have enough .22 LR ammo on hand so that they can spend all the time they want to shooting while I put a band-aid on my thumb and load magazines! Cool!

The local walmart has been getting ammo the last 3 days, denies it, since they are having a "sale" on sat/sun on cci 22lr and apparently are saving?? the remington & winchester for saturday also. They do not put it out till 7 am and this week will not tell you if they are going to put it out, then they do not?? Be Safe,

If your guns like the Federal Auto Match .22LR like mine do- check gen Gun Broker today - you can get 3250 rounds for around 9.5to 10.5 cents per round delivered depending on the auction- several have buy it now $299 with free shipping-.
The Federal Auto Match was $22 to $25 per 325 rounds before all this stuff started three years ago- so $34 to $35 per 325 isn't horrible. heck of a lot better than paying 10 cents per round for garbage like Rem Thunderbolt!!

If you have a Gander Mountain near you right now they have Federal Auto Match $19.99 plus tax for store pickup. Order online and pickup in store. A little over 6 1/2 cents per round. Link is on the in stock ammo thread.

I'm old enough to remember when .22 Shorts were 25 cents per box, and .22 LR was 35 cents. And you could buy all you wanted.

And I remember when a loaf of bread was a dime and gas was 39 cents, but not sure what that has to do with anything.

Bought a Bucket O' Golden Bullets from Cabela's this morning. $69.99 for 1400 rds. Not The greatest ammo, but it goes bang.

I've been very lucky with finding .22lr recently, mostly the Remington Thunder which my M&P .22lr loves. I also have some Winchester and Federal Champion that the rifle likes. I currently have over 2500 rounds and have maintained that level almost all summer, even though we've done a fair amount of shooting. I try to keep it at $.05/round before tax. I'm pretty happy with that rate. I've paid more and I've paid less, but that's where it averages out for the most part. When I first buying, I would pay a little more because I wanted the kids to be able to shoot. Got lucky at a GM grand reopening weekend 2 days in a row and at a Cabela's grand opening so I'm pretty happy.

I've seen there have .22lr at the local WM, but it sounds like it's about like every where else and there are people waiting at 6:00 when they put it out and they are sold out shortly after 7:00 when they start selling. I don't go through that because I have enough to keep the family shooting.

At Dick's in my area (last night) they had 300 round CCI AR boxes, and 500 bricks of Thunderbolt. No buckets lately.

One WalMart still had a couple of cases (2000 rounds each) of the CCI SV 100 rounds yesterday. The rest were out last Saturday/Sunday. Interesting forecasts for demand, I suppose.

They are running the buckets in the weekly add for my local Dicks. They tend to hold a certain amount for each day so they have some for the whole week. They have had a pretty regular supply, it still doesn't last the day, but they are getting it in at least.

So there is hope. Now all I need is change. I live in Connecticut. You know, the home of Sandyhook. I went to the two local gun shops and the two Walmarts last week. No dice. I have had an order in with Midway for ten months and that was for ammo they said was due in shortly. I decided to pay the $75 or so for a brick and tried to buy from two places on line. They won't sell to me because I live in Ct. Oh I have a carry permit and am perfectly legal but they still won't sell to me even at robbery prices. That I do not appreciate.

My Henry levergun likes Remington Golden bullets a lot so if I can find some I buy them. (I'm very low on that brand)

I have 3 Walmart stores near me, one is about 5 miles away and the other 2 are about 12 miles in either direction. Every time I go into Walmart I ask if they have any .22 ammo and the usual answer is, sorry, No! Well, I was up north for the first time in weeks and asked the clerk if he as any .22 ammo expecting the usual answer but this time he said, actually, YES. I have one box left from 10 in the case.... I asked if it was Remington Golden bullets and he said yes again so I told him I'll take it..

Then I got a few good surprises, instead of a box 100 or 225 like I've seen over the past 6 months it was A BRICK OF 525 ROUNDS!!! Even better, it was less than 5 cents a round at only $22.36/525 rounds. I'm a very happy shooter today. :D
I have 2k of goldens including a bucket, to me they are very inaccurate I moved from the 25 yd range with my 22 Henry to the 100 yd range using a cheap Truglow scope 3-9x40 used up my Aguilla super extra's had it sighted in to about 4" groups. The goldens were all over the place. Guess I will have to find another use for them

I found out my Henry liked Golden Bullets by accident. I brought them out with me to use them up. I was shooting Federal 22s and they were shooting fine and then went to the Remington ammo. I was able to shoot leaves off a downed tree by shooting the stems. That is better shooting than I can usually do, it was the ammo/rifle combo.
