I am considering the SD9VE as my first gun purchase

Interesting. I really want to see the sd9/40 VE now. It just may be the right gun for me overall. Thanks for all the pics.

I just passed my CCW class with my SD9VE (48 of 50 shots on target). I keep trying to post a pic but I took it from my phone and can't seem to make the transition.

Anyway, I now have right at 500 flawless rounds through my pistol and it gets better with every shot. I get my new "Little" Foxx Hybrid holster in a few days and cannot wait to start carrying.

For the record, I have a Foxx "Trapp" all Kydex holster but like the smaller version of the crossbreed they have better. Not only are they taking back my Trapp holster, they're sending the difference in cost and free shipping.

Also, I'm 6'2 1/2 and 240 pounds and it conceals wonderfully. Plenty of stopping power with the right ammo and again, YOU CANNOT BEAT THE PRICE! Go ahead and pull the trigger (pun intended) ;)

Can you link to this hybrid holster? I have an IWB holster, but would love something smaller!

I have owned and carried a Sw9ve For about 4yr now. With over 1000 rounds down it and no problems . For the money you cannot beat it . Don't see myself ever getting rid of this gun. Simple to clean. simple to use. gun goes bang every time . what more can you ask for? There is only 1 downside. The cost of extra mags. Other than that great gun

If I had known S&W was phasing out the SWVE guns I would have kept my 9 & 40. I saw one (SW9VE) in my local pawn shop, with 3 mags and a blue case, for $245. The next day I went back to buy it,it was gone. I am still on the lookout for another.

SD9VE as of October 2013

I just want to add the to chain, even though I'm writing my input a year later.

I have three guns: P95, Remington 1911 R1 45 ACP, and the SD9VE. I like all three guns, but for the money the S&W SD9VE by far is the most bang for the buck. Why pay premium prices for a gun when the SD9VE can handle anything that may come my way? It's dependable, will fire any 9mm sold, and inexpensive ($319). Once the wifey settles down, I'm getting the SD40VE!

The SD's are incredible guns, ive owned many guns from just about every main gun manufacturer there is and my father has own everything else. My hands have grasped and shot exspensive (Mateba/STI/ED Brown) down to flea market guns (Jimenez/Bryco/Jennings) and everything inbetween.

My SD should be priced 150 dollars more, that and the Sigma bad taste and heavy trigger of the past is what holds people back from buying it. Once you do buy it, you will end up loving the gun and the deal S&W bestowed you. Heck of a job they did and with apex this gun is a winner in every right.

I just wish it had a .45 slide/barrel assembly to upgrade to and came with night sight but for the 289 i paid for mine out the door what more could i procure from S&W? Remember it didnt come in peices and the quality of the firearm is definitly sky high from its price point

Our first handgun/firearm is a SD9VE. It's our HD gun and as soon as we got our CHL our CCW. First we were looking at a SIG SP2022 in 9mm and shot it as a rental at a local range and I really liked the DA/SA trigger but the S&W fitted the budget better. Like others already said it's an incredible gun for that price. I put the Apex Spring kit and the AET trigger in. The spring kit dropped the trigger pull down to slightly above 6lbs. and the AET trigger eliminated the over travel to none. That increased the accuracy remarkably even though I still need more trigger time but my groups are not as low and left as they were with the stock parts. We sent 800 rounds down the pipe of different ammo, WWB, American Eagle, Fiocci and reloads as well as some Winchester PDX1 and Hornady Critical Duty with no issues at all - that gun eats 'em all and spits 'em out no questions ask. :D All in all I really love the SD9VE and planing on getting the SD40VE as soon as we can afford it. If you got a chance to try one of them take it. IMO it's the perfect "newbie"-gun and the best bang for the buck you can get.
