I am intrigued with the round grip on the 4506.

I have a 4506-1 with a straight grip but like the looks of the rounded grip.

Which one do you like best and tell me why?

I might have to give one a try.

On my 4506-1, I swapped the straight grip with the arched back (rounded) grip... it puts the rear of the grip further back into the palm and recoil is distributed better. To me it also less "squarish".

My main gripe with the straight back grips is that they feel like you're holding onto a 1" x 2" edgewise.

My 4506 came with a Curved Backstrap Grip, my 4566's came with Straight ones....I liked the look of the Curved ones, but swapped them to Straight because I shot them better.....Goofy, but a Subjective issue. Nice part is, the grips are very affordable...Buy them both and play with them....Zebulon

My example is an early 4506. I made some modifications to it. The original rear sight was replaced with the Novak which came on later production models. The Novak sight required machining of the slide. Changed the trigger guard configuration from hooked concave to rounded smooth. Bead blasted the slide and frame to a darker tone. S&W had a recall on the grips but I decided to stay with the straight as opposed to the arched.

On my 4566, 4676, 1006 and 1076, I use the straight grip, although I tried the curve. However, on the double stack pistols like my 5903, 915 and 4006, I prefer the curved grip. There is some thing about the double stack pistols with straight grips that seem to make them want to shift left, right, left in my hand. This is not the case with the big single stacks. Go figure, to each his own, and all that jazz.

I tried both on my 4566 and found neither fit my hand as well as the rubber Houges that it now wears.

I have placed an order with Brownell's for the curved Smith & Wesson grips.

Like your advice said, "Try them both". I think that's good advice and I look forward to trying them.

Guy's I hope I did not mess up. I ordered the Rounded Grip but did not order the Pin. I hope you can re-use the Pin.

Please, tell me you can.
