Are there only two of us in the forum??

My collection of S&W firearms has recently been increased with a NIB I-bolt from a listing on Gunbroker..

With my being a S&W collector/stockholder, I could not pass up such a screaming deal on a 30-06 with an incredible trigger and with the awesome T/C target barrel accuracy..

Yeah, I am a fanboy..Guilty as charged.

I knew about the bolt recall, and the one I have has the punch mark on the bottom of the bolt handle, indicating factory inspection of pre-08 rifles. Any and all info as to why these sweet shooters were discontinued? Any info on the years they were manufactured?

I just would like to know more about their rise and fall..

Thank you all...

I own a 24" Mossberg MVP. She's a beaut. Good luck with your new purchase. Sorry. I didn't understand the point of this post. I missed the "I" before bolt. Thought you meant bolt action in general

Just checking back, seeing if anyone knows of a wooden stock that comes close to fitting this rarity..Boyd's had nothing to suggest, but I remember seeing somewhere that a Rem 700 long action may fit.. Can anyone verify that for me before I buy an Ebay beater stock to try that might just wind up being a canoe paddle later????

Ok..FYI...For all of you S&W I-bolt owners..(All five of us?) who wanted to upgrade to a nicer stock..All of the aftermarket stock guys like Boyd's said that they had nothing to fit, and S&W told me that there was nothing that would cross.... I borrowed a stock I thought might look close for fit and just dropped my 30-06 I-bolt into a stock that was for the Rem 700 BDL long action.. Fits like a glove!

I also picked a good deal on an I bolt from GB. Need to smooth out a failure to feed, but boy it is accurate. My grandson has laid claim to it upon my demise. I'm worried he might be to impatient?

I have an I-Bolt. It is simply the best 30-06 I have ever owned or shot in the last 56 years. Field handy and dead nutz accurate. Only problem is with rapid fire(more than 7 shots) it tends to string a little, but the vertical stringing is predictable and can be taken into consideration if you are repelling the zombies.

I-BOLT

I have an I bolt in 270, haven't shot it much but so far really like it. I would like to find one in 243 for coyote hunting.
