Just received my first S&W long gun, an Ibolt in .270. Haven't scoped or shot it yet but looks good few if any rounds through it. Wondering if any on here can tell me more about it and its potential? are any aftermarket upgrades available? I realize it is no longer in production but was curious about stocks or drop magazine conversions. I have several S&W handguns but kinda wanted a long Smith.

Any thoughts or words of wisdom are greatly appreciated.

I have an i-bolt in .30-06 and I love it. Its accuracy is right up there with my Model 70 Winchester, and it has become my go-to gun for whitetail hunting. My only complaint is the goofy flush mounts that only seem to work with Hush Stalker swivels. So far as aftermarket is concerned, I found a recoil reducer on Ebay that installs under the butt plate in a designated hole. Whether it actually reduces recoil is a matter of some debate.

Thanks for the reply, the sling mounts were the first thing I noticed. Just got a scope mounted recently so have no real idea of accuracy but overall I like it so far. Mine is in .270

I will update when I have time to shoot it more, appears to have been fired little and I got what I felt was a good deal.
