I do not expect 9mm to fall significantly in price-Do you agree?

9mm has about stabilized but is still slowly going down with small price drops. Other cartridges are now widely available. Once supply catches up on the other cartridges the prices will continue coming down a bit more.

I was at Scheels the other week and the shelves were about fully stocked with common calibers. Prices will keep coming down unless something crazy happens.

I was at a few gunships today and the prices have not come down 1 bit.

20 rounds of Remington .270, $38
Common .223 ammo, $12.99/20 rounds
20 rounds of .45 Auto JHP SD ammo $34.99 (that used to be the price for 50 rounds)
I don't remember the prices on the .357 Magnum, 7.62x39, 350 Legend, 30-30 and a few others, sorry, but they were similarly high.

I disagree with the $15 being the normal. Already seeing email ads for 9mm to be about $12.50 or so as other indicated. I believe $12 will be the new normal.

This conversation happened the last time we had a shortage. It's always supply and demand. The last shortage, the Trump Slump got 9mm down to less than $10/50. I remembered buying at Ganders in 2018 for 6.88$ limit 10…made 3 trips that day.

Demand has ceded enough. For manufacturers to start on other calibers like .380, 45 acp and others. With inflation, upcoming layoff, decking housing and auto markets, and tax season, we may see price come down more. On the other hand, crime and other'pandemic' may change it the other direction.

So employ dollar cost averaging…don't wait until price is low before stocking up.

Buying 4 boxes at $17=$68
Buying 8 boxes at $13=$104
Buying 4 boxes at $15=$60
Buying 4 boxes at $12.50=$50

I have 20 boxes that cost $282.
Each box averages $14.10.

They shoot the same…the box that cost $13 or $17.

Too many new handgun owners paying too much for ammo to expect prices to come down very much. I have some 9mm that I bought pre-Covid but mostly I shoot my own handloads.
