I've got one in the shop that my dad shot with one of his target rifles. Not sure how he did it but it was DRT , no running involved.

If it's any consolation, back before chronos were widely/cheaply available, I built a ballistic pendulum to make sure guys weren't cheating on the power factor. Yep, it got shot too. About the time I built an improved version reasonably priced chronos were around. They were more popular since bullet hardness didn't affect them. Still got it.

One of the Thursday Night Guys on a beautiful Saturday shot his Crony, another guy's Crony and a week later shot the replacement he bought the other guy!
Cronys' have a small cross hair in the logo on the readout panel. All three shots were centered in that crosshair!
My personal Crony is the Bottom grade model and has so badly, it hit nothing vital. So it is only hard to open/close.

I tried to use my first Pro-Chrono to measure velocity of a patched round ball from a .50 Cal TC Renegade using a pre-lubed patch and 70 grains of black powder. Big mistake. The ball went right through the gate, but the lube patch and muzzle blast (think I was too close) destroyed the display. Scratch one perfectly good chronograph. 
A friend shot one of my Chronys...even with emergency medical help...It didn't survive. He shot it with a 17HMR I think.I still have an old Chrony but also have a Pact. It works well. I shoot outdoors at home so no worries with setups. I only use one occasionally. My background is a 300 foot cliff

I have not shot a crony..........yet
When I start firing a new gun, I use a big target close, but have still hit the 2x2s that form my target stand. I made a metal one that has legs that stick in the ground. A guy hit a cross piece with a 45-70 that took some hammering and welding to fix. LOL

Learning from the mistakes of others is a good reason to share our errors.
I have not yet shot my old Shooting Chrony. The operative word in my statement is "yet". At some point it may well happen, then it will likely be replaced with a Lab Radar or Garmin Xero C1. Who knows, by then there might be even more entrants in the radar chronograph market.

I have an old chrony laying around somewhere still I believe. I don’t do a lot of chronographing anymore so if I can find it pay shipping and it’s yours. The BIG if is if I can find it. I went through a divorce a couple years ago and I’ve misplaced a lot of stuff.

Don't feel too bad. I didn't even have the satisfaction of losing my Chrony by shooting it, but instead walked off the range and left the readout module on the bench. Went back - gone - and being out of production, I now have a useless sky screen unit.
