Now that I've brought these three beauties together, I may have progressed just a bit from Accumulator to Collector.

With the help of a couple of members here, I have finally put together my first set...three full lug target revolvers, all with as-issued combat grips. Only one of these, the Model 14-5, came with the original grips installed, the others I had to obtain the proper grips for. They are all 'shooters' and trust me, they will be shot. A bunch!

So, without any further ado, here they are - from top to bottom, a 17-6, a 16-4, and a 14-5:

I really envy you that 14-5, I have never been able to find a 14 with the full underlug. I do have the other two however. In the meantime I'll just suffer with my old school three gun combo.

Titan Tom, I admire your effort and the results it produced. Of the three, I've only owned the middle one, the Model 16-4, and I constantly wish I had had sense enough to hold onto it when I did have have it. The three together should be great to shoot together and will provide great pride of ownership and value appreciation as well. Congratulations.

Unfortunately, no Model 17-6. :o

Oh well, I'll keep searching. :)

The hunt is half the fun, Dave. If you could just walk into Wal*Mart and buy them, there would be less pride of ownership and no sense of accomplishment. Keep up the search and when you do succeed in finding that last gun, the satisfaction will be worth it!

My Trio is composed of a mismatch... while the ‘40s vintage K-38 and K-22 both have light weight barrels with narrow ribs, to get a K-32 I had to have one built with a factory replacement NOS barrel, a Model 14-3 donor gun, and a reworked Model 17 cylinder. I choose to emphasize that I finallyhave all three rather than dwelling on the mismatch. Friend Titan Tom is to be admired for putting together his matched set. :)

Hi Froggie,

I agree that it's more important to have something nice than something correct. I acquired my both my Model 14-5 and 16-4 new back when they were just run of the mill S&W's. I actually have Model 17's pretty well covered; two 17-3's with 6" barrels, and a 17-4 with 8 3/8" barrel. I also have two Model 18-3's and one Model 18-4. Just don't have that full lug Model 17 yet. :)
