This was the day I bought my 640-1 new unfired from my brother,
May 11, 2008. Shipped April 12, 1995. He bought it new.

I found the case in my storage unit while looking for the carburetor for
my old pickup. Its been there since 2009.
I often wondered what ever happened to it.

I still have the factory grips but I like these better. ;)

My brother sold me the 640-1 for $400. I asked why soo cheap because
they were selling for about $525 at the time. He said they were cheaper
back when he bought it.

A few months later he bought this 642-1 with the $400 I gave him for the 640-1.
This was his new BUG.

Back in Aug 2014 I took my girls to a gun range and asked him if I could borrow
a couple of guns to shoot, at the time my 640-1 was my only gun.

That was the night he gave me two guns, my 642-1

and my 28-2.

BUFF retired from LE in Jan 2014 and had bought a new 642-1 so he gave
me his old BUG. Its been my EDC ever since.

Very nice

The label says that revolver was manufactured on April 4th of 1995. So it did not spend much time in the Factory's inventory.

I got my 1st J-Magnum Model 640 on May 15th of 1995

The J-Magnum ushered in a new era of powerful pocket pistols. It is hard to believe that your brother picked one up so soon after they were introduced and never took it to the range

Mine replaced my Model 60 Chief's Special Target as my BUG. While I love the better sights of the CST Model 60, I wanted the extra power of the 357 Magnum cartridge

I don't doubt that he bought two, shot one and never shot the other one.
He did that with a 25-3 125th Anniversary too.

At the time he gave me the 28-2 and the 642-1 he had close to 300 handguns.
Several had never been fired.

I'd be willing to bet that 90+% were S&Ws.

I think its an awesome little gun. I've only fired 125 gr .357 loads.
I get a kick:D out of the kick.

I was curious as to when it was shipped so I had it lettered.
Too bad they didn't ship them in order. Sure would have made things more simple. :)
