Are the I frame 32's 6 shot or 5?

Does anyone know how much lighter than the J frame M30 and M31 they are?

I'm thinking a post war I frame in 32 S&W long might make a nice small carry gun.

Here is a photo of a I and J together for size reference. I can't help you with the weight.

I may be mistaken, (Mrs says frequently so) but I frame 2" 32s were not made, were they? I have a Regulation Police 32 that went back to the factory and was fitted with a 2" barrel. The older Terriers were 2" but I didn't think the 32 HE s were available in 2".

The latest version of the catalog shows post war 2" 32 HEs. Don't know how common they were.

Here's a shot of mine. All are I-frame guns (the two bottom ones are Models 31 and 30 from '58).

Second one from the top in the left column is a postwar ('49 or '50) 2" 32 Hand Ejector, all the numbers match.

Yes, the I-frame snubbies are pretty easy to carry, but I don't know the weights, either.

Good luck in your search.

Bob

Cal 44. hello from northern Nevada. I have an I frame Regulation Police with a 3.25"barrel. It weighs 17.5 oz. Also have a J frame model 30 with a 3"barrel which weighs 20.5 oz. So a 3oz difference. For me they are both fine pocket guns and delight to carry and shoot.
Best, Nevada duke.

My vintage 1949 HE in 32 S&W Long with 2" barrel has been mentioned here repeatedly and is indeed an original I-frame of the old school... leaf mainspring with strain screw and all. We've taken to calling them "Six Screw" models.

The Post war 32 Hand Ejectors from lightest to heaviest; all with 2" barrels and with round butts/factory walnut stocks:

1. Transitional I frame
2. and Improved I ~ 1.25 ozs heavier than #1
3. Model of 1953 New I frame and Model 30 ~ 2 ozs. heavier than #2

And the J frame Model 30-1 ~ 2.5 ozs. heavier than #3
