I got a new S&W SDve and I must have all the up-grades!

It seems like many who have bought the SD ve either in the .40or the 9mm version, are unhappy with the fundamentals of the weapon. They don't like the Trigger pull, the Recoil Spring and poly Guide Rod, the Plastic Sights, the Take Down Bar, the list is endless! Then they go on to buy and install all the enhancements they deem necessary to improve the operation of the piece.
Many, have problems with the installations, (mostly because they are inept, or can not read instructions) and wind up posting their difficulties with questions on how to solve them. Come on, the guns are very well made, reliable and very inexpensive!
They were designed for SD not competitive shooting! Many spend hundreds of dollars to make improvements that are not necessary.
I enjoy shooting my stock .40SD at the range and when I'm done, it sits on the night table at home for SD.
If It Ain't Broke......

mb

Trigger was my problem due to atendon graft on my index finger in my strong/shotting hand. I lost 60% of the movement and a good bit of strength. The trigger upgrades were a must on my part as at the factory 8 pounds I could not pull it far enough to get the shot to break. The plastic sights were swapped out for Trijicon night sights since it is my daily carry and Bedside gun So those were also a must. Guide rod and take down lever are standard from factory with well over 2k rounds and no issue there. Although I did stipple the grip for a bit more traction. So not all "upragedes" are pointless.

That being said. I am glad you enjoy your pistol in its factory form I hope it gives you many years of great service.

S&W needs to make the Slide Lock Lever 1mm longer

All the aftermarket parts makers would probably disagree... :p

I do wish the stock lever was a bit longer. I don't seem to be having as much difficulty with my current stock lever as I have had in previous models, but it's still very close to the frame, and I have to use my fingernails to snag it. I am going to go ahead and get an aftermarket lever, since it's just a bit easier.

I am also going to get an M&P rear sight, and I'm on the fence about a slide cover plate with a design on it. Otherwise, the trigger group, striker, and RSA are and will remain stock.

Love mine, only thing I did was replace the narrow Slide Lock Lever with a wider one.
I would fight the stock one until my fingers got sore to release the slide

It's easy, quick and painless with the stock one once you figure it out. I don't want mine changed.
