I got a Thompson Machine Gun for Christmas!

I'm currently looking for some high velocity ammo... er I mean rubber bands for mine. Looks like I'll need to get out my chronograph and ballistic gel!

We made "sling shot" rifles and handguns depending on the length of the stock and rubber band. Inner tubes where the most common and strongest bands.

Attached a large rubber band to a stock of wood and a clothes pin as a trigger. The ammo fired by the rubber band was a pop can tab (remember when the old ones pulled all the way off? ). The accuracy terrible but still fun. :)

Somebody has to ask: What kind of rubber bands work best for bear?
It looks like a fine Christmas present; after neglecting their homework for the many hours it takes to assemble the ersatz gun, the student could take it to school for show and tell. Well, what could go wrong? In my day, I really could have taken it to school. It the 1950's, we could carry pocket knives and we had boxing in physical ed. But, a student would be in real trouble if caught in possession of a condom! That could get a boy introduced to Mr. Spanky in the boiler room! Times have changed things 180 degrees.

73,
Rick

Stopped by my Dealer yesterday and they not only had the Thompson but also a Remington 870 pump in a short barrel config.
Both were fun to shoot, the 870 properly operating as a pump and the Thompson full auto, really cool; now I need to find one (or both) down the road.

Pretty cool....:)

I Got a Thompson for my Birthday...

My sister gave me this for my birthday. It's a GOAT Gun, and I get one every year. This year was the Thompson, last year it was the AR-15. It measures 8.5", is made of metal, and needed to be assembled. It makes a cool decoration for my workbench:

Edit: I took the photo with my phone, and it looked much better on my phone!

I have to get one of those for my son-in-law. I have it on good authority from my daughter, he will love it. Will it assassinate flys at two yards?
