I had an acquaintance ask for ammo

A former neighbor needed to qualify for his church's security team, but there is no ammo to be had on such short notice. I got a box of 9mm Tulammo for him. When he stopped by to pick it up he was offended. He informed me that cheap, nasty steel case ammo would never be fired in one of his guns. He preferred to qualify with the same SD ammo he carried on a regular basis. He also needed 200 rounds. He also assumed it would be donated as it was for his church.

I took the box of Tulammo out of his hand and wished him well.

I have 2 possibly 3 people of who I would loan money or ammo to.....
Ammo is just as valuable as ammo , in my very honest opinion.

OP - the nerve of that guy.....
If he is so prudent towards the ammo that he feeds his firearm, he shouldnt have been caught short on ammo.
All of my acquaintances who are serious about firearms , targets / training SD ect , all have ammo available. maybe not in great qtys , but they still have what is reqd to protect what needs protected.

I don't think I've ever witnessed anyone using 200 rounds of SD ammo at any training class I've ever attended. Even before this shortage that would cost good money.

Yeah, there's no point. 115gr jhp = 115gr fmj for paper. Unless you are doing expansion testing but that is done by reviewers, not in training.

A couple weeks ago a buddy asked me to help zero his rifle, and I obliged, bringing all the necessary sight-in stuff. He had ammo. BUT, he brought his nephew and son, the son being a cash-poor grad student with a fancy brandy new Glock wonder nine and like 20 rounds of ammo. I had 400 rds of 115 gr S&B 9mm in the truck to run through my guns. Well, after shooting and sharing about half my 9mm the young man complained that ammo was really hard to find and very expensive and would I sell him what was left in the carton, about 200 rounds. "No, but I'll split what's left at my cost...this time only. Next time, you bring your own ammo, 'K?" My takeaway is to bring only enough ammo to shoot and share, but not so much that others might be inclined to ask me to donate or sell cheap for their personal stash.

I have taken training where we expended over 500 rounds in a couple 3 hour sessions. And some classes require you come with at least 1000 rounds. (Gunsite)
