Look at what happened from 1998 until 2008. In just ten years it has grown and grown.Watch the pieces come together as they are sent up from Earth. This is the International Space Station (ISS) Assembly diagram, piece by piece.
This is really cool

great.....now that we almost got it built, our flivver program gets the axe....

This happened because it was not shrink wrapped, only vacuum packed...

Spaceweather.com has a page where you can track some interesting space stuff like the space station. Enter a zip code and hit go.

It is really bright and easy to see. Obviously, it is only visible for a coupla hours before sunrise or after sunset. Even with all the air traffic here in so cal, it is also easy to differentiate from aircraft.

Is there anyone at the space station currently?

Quite a piece of works going on there and I didn't know. Makes you wonder the cost of even the tiny bits added.
Too bad we'll be hitching a ride to there for some years yet.
