I Hate facebook! Rant

Never had any use for it, but it left me alone for the most part. Now I'm getting these friggin "Facebook wants to make you a millionaire" pop ups on my S&W forum page that block me from doing anything. If I hit the "close" button, it's just an "accept" button in disguise. Anybody else have this issue? It may be because my daughters use my phone from time to time to go on fb and I just need to clear the cookies or something. And I don't know how to clear just that and keep all the cookies I want. AARGH!!

I think that has more to do with these FORUMS and BLOATED ADDS they injected all over the place. That doesn't look like a legit FACEBOOK app notification.

I would venture a guess that FB has nothing to do with those popups. I use FB, this Forum, and a couple other sites frequently and every now and then get different ads that take over a given page... I just swipe that page off my i-phone and start over.

In fact, i often will go and clean off (close) most pages to keep the phone running cleaner.

My wife has a FB account, but never uses it. No such pop-up ads have ever bothered us. You may have picked up some spyware or adware virus causing it. There are some free anti-spyware add-ons that might help (I use SpyBot Search and Destroy).

Regarding my wife's FB account (which basically has no information about her beyond her name), there are hundreds (no exaggeration) of people who want to be her friend. We have never heard of any of them, no intention of becoming friends with any of them. Who are these people?

I love this forum, but oh my, does it have ads. I have ads on the top, on the left side, a "Did you know?" presentation, a few of those "Millonaire tells his secret, works from home and makes $5.000 a day" and ocassionally, I even get a pop-up VIDEO for a bank from Argentina.

I don't care much, it's not like I'm paying anything to use this platform.
I hope the administration is getting some revenue for all this advertisement though!

Never let anyone else use your phone. Never.

That includes daughters and other relatives or friends. Let 'em use their own phone. If they don't have one, buy 'em one.

Look at it this way. The ads help pay for this site that you enjoy. Being a contributor to this site you enjoy helps Lee keep it going. That's why if your a contributor you see less ads, with your contributions he can have less ads on your page. Lee can't do all of this for free.

Happens all the time. Go to a McDonalds and you can get a semi-cheap meal, and usually not the best service. Go to a Chick-fil-A and you'll get better service but the food cost more. Then go to a high dollar restaurant, you'll normally get better food, service,etc. Tell a waiter or waitress that the better service you get the better their tip will be. You get exactly what you pay for in life. And calling it robbery is insulting to the owners and those that help with the site. Your post sounds like a "snowflake" rant.

My immediate reaction is that surely there are other forums where you might be happier.

But it appears you've been here since 2012, so you must derive enough benefit from this one to put up with the irritation.

I trust you'll stick around; but for me, a few bucks a year is a really good buy for what this forum offers, and I would invest it even if it didn't make ads go away. Paying so little for something that gives me so much pleasure doesn't strike me as "robbery".
