I hate it when my house burns to the ground!

Got up this morning, same time, same routine. Went downstairs, fed the livestock (momma's critters.) Took my shower, got dressed, and flopped down in my recliner to watch the 5:30 AM news and weather. Guess what I discovered? My house had burned over night, and I didn't even wake up for the festivities!

Sho'nuf, there on the headlines was a map, culled from the computer. An overnight house fire put an extended family out on the street, and the Bullseye was centered right on my house! So I sat there confused for a few minutes (my normal state these days). I realized I didn't smell smoke, nor did I feel any extra heat (means the fire wasn't still active, nor did I wet my pants.)

I did have some decisions to make. I've heard that other old fogies read their morning paper in bed, and specifically the obits. If their name is listed, they don't have to get up and go to work. What I couldn't figure out is how they get someone to bring them the paper.

All I can guess, from the news, is the fire was on up the highway in the next town. Some geographically challenged fool at the newsroom guessed wrong.

Google and Mapquest maps aren't always correct. When searching for my address they both show me living about 3 miles south of here.

My GPS shows our address about 1/4 mile south. It also shows the address of the AKC hunt test for this weekend about 2 miles east.

They probably outsourced the physical mapping to folks who were dyslexic, or English wasn't even their second language!

Be very very careful with hot things today!

Pinch yourself and make sure you're not a ghost!

Look in a mirror, see if your reflection looks back. Or, take a small mirror and hold it under your chin, see if it fogs up.

If something like that happened to me, I would be afraid I had perished in my sleep and gone to heaven or, more likely in your case, the other destination...

Put salt on your eggs this morning. Zombies can't eat salt. If they do, they remember being alive, and realize that they are dead, and return to their graves.
You can't be too careful.
(Salt is much less painful than a .30 220gr roundnose to the head).

Hunh. If I'd been up, I could have watched that fire from my top window(or winder for you briars). I'm on top of the hill in Delhi...

My father always checked the obituaries first to see if he was there.

If not, he knew that he made it through another day.

That only works if he read the "Midnight Edition" before going to bed; if he read the "Morning Edition" it only meant he'd survived another long nights' sleep!!!
