This aging thing is not for sissies that is for sure. Turned 66 last February, work out most every day so I am in pretty good shape overall. Getting more time at the reloading bench now.

But geewillakers I seem to drop things a lot when I am reloading. Bullets, brass and of course when I am checking powder loads I have to spill one or two during a session.

I use to have these nice and delicate/detailed hands that could do anything. They still work fine but things seem to want to jump out of my fingers for some reason. Am I the only one with this condition? :)

I played football and only occasionally fumbled, I must be making up for it now.

Ahem:

Daytime Fumbler

Smith & Wesson Geezers

I'm a-talkin' 'bout the daytime fumbler
Everybody got to go
Well I'm a-talkin' 'bout the daytime fumbler
The one you already seen before
I'm slippin' down the stair so badly
A-listen and you'll hear me groan
Well I'm a talkin' 'bout the daytime fumbler
And everybody got to go
(Yeah c'mon)
Talkin' 'bout the daytime fumbler
The one you already seen before
I'm talkin' 'bout the daytime fumbler
Did you see me stumble cross the kitchen floor
I don't give you a toot of warning
A-dressed up in my pajama cloak
I don't see the light of the morning
An I'll spit if my nose don't blow
I'm tellin' 'bout the daytime fumbler
Well, honey, it's no rock 'n' roll show
Well, I'm a-talkin' 'bout the daytime fumbler
And everybody got to go
Oh, don't do that
Well, you heard about the…

I can relate, at 68 YO I seen the videos on replacing an I phone 6S battery and thought, yeah, I can do that! Well I did it, but those tiny screws that hold down the little plate covering the electronic connections are a serious challenge. Somehow they did not seem that small in the video. Either I'm not half as good as I thought I was, OR; maybe I never really considered what my actual limitations were. You know, a man has to know that!

At 72, I've been fumbling for a couple of years now. Turned it into it's own art form, as it were. Just yesterday I was cleaning one of my 1911s, dropped the slide release/stop onto the shop floor. There it is, right between my feet. Bended to pick it up, dropped it again, bended to pick it up a second time........ bumped my hand it against the shop bench, and dropped it again. Went to my hands and knees looking for it this time, found it, stood up and smacked my head against the corner of the shop bench. A nice little dink with blood. I thought it best to cover everything with a shop towel and call it a day......
My lovely wife though this was real funny......
I didn't.

I'm with you guys (unusual as it may be-usually in the minority). I'm 72 and I'm a real dufus fumbler.

I was very happy to see these posts as I have been concerned about my dropping/fumbling things. I thought my grip had gone to pieces, but I think it is a connection between the grip and mind. I grab something, maybe take a little more time and pick it up, but I'm not holding it tight, though I "think" I am and....SPLAT or CRASH or, well, you get the idea.

I am honestly glad to see some of you others have the same problem and it's not just me. I wish none of us had it, but it's great to know it's apparently a somewhat normal part of aging.

Bob
