I've been trying not to buy guns just because they might be a good deal. I used to tell myself it would be silly to pass it up and I could sell it or trade it for something I actually wanted. So I would buy them and never do that second part.
I've been cogitating on this nicely-priced 6" Model 19-4. I have a snub 19 and a 4", but no 6". On the other hand, I don't really like the 6", and I already have a couple of nice 6" K-38s.
It was still there but something else caught my wandering eye. It checked all the boxes:
Never had one - check
Smith and Wesson, pinned - check
Nickel - check
Original grips - check
.32 caliber - check
3" barrel - check
Good shape - check
Priced on the right side of Cabela's schizophrenic pricing - check
15 bucks off for being an American heeero - check.
They took the lock dingus off and the action was all it should be. The nickel is perfect except for the greasy residue from previous handlers. It will shine like a diamond with a little rubdown.
I know these Model 30s have a solid following and I'm glad to join the club.
Colorado's 3 day wait is actually 4 days thanks to this store's policy of not starting the countdown clock until midnight. So - Monday.
The 19-4 is still there if anyone is interested. And a couple of other Smith .32 calibers.
The gun library guy told me they are now awash in used guns and will soon be cutting the prices on almost everything.
