I've been trying not to buy guns just because they might be a good deal. I used to tell myself it would be silly to pass it up and I could sell it or trade it for something I actually wanted. So I would buy them and never do that second part.

I've been cogitating on this nicely-priced 6" Model 19-4. I have a snub 19 and a 4", but no 6". On the other hand, I don't really like the 6", and I already have a couple of nice 6" K-38s.

It was still there but something else caught my wandering eye. It checked all the boxes:

Never had one - check
Smith and Wesson, pinned - check
Nickel - check
Original grips - check
.32 caliber - check
3" barrel - check
Good shape - check
Priced on the right side of Cabela's schizophrenic pricing - check
15 bucks off for being an American heeero - check.

They took the lock dingus off and the action was all it should be. The nickel is perfect except for the greasy residue from previous handlers. It will shine like a diamond with a little rubdown.

I know these Model 30s have a solid following and I'm glad to join the club.

Colorado's 3 day wait is actually 4 days thanks to this store's policy of not starting the countdown clock until midnight. So - Monday.

The 19-4 is still there if anyone is interested. And a couple of other Smith .32 calibers.

The gun library guy told me they are now awash in used guns and will soon be cutting the prices on almost everything.

Nice find!

Double what I gave for mine, but I think I got mine in 2008. Sadly, .32 S&W Long ammunition averages around $35.00/50 rounds in my area.

Is there a link to that "library"?

That was a good deal, very good. I agree with you on the six inch 19. Those just never looked right to me.

I'm gonna see how it likes .32 ACPs, they are a lot cheaper and easier to find around here. If not, oh well. I see Aguila and S&B .32 Long on the shelf pretty regularly.

I doubt these are on the Cabelas website yet, but you can check for the Lone Tree, CO, store. Or you can call them direct. I think they'll ship to a Cabelas or Bass Pro near you for free.

I'm not big on nickel revolvers but boy howdy! that little Model 30 is a real doll baby. I'm surprised that the supply of interesting guns in that gun library is so good. It's been a few months since I checked the Cabela's in Richmond (VA) but they were using black guns and plastic pistols so it wouldn't be so empty!
Great find and welcome aboard the 32 crazy train.

If you google Cabela's Used Guns it will give you the link to their Used Guns.

I go and look monthly and if you see something you will buy they will ship to your local Cabela's (or Bass Pro Shop, same owners) I'm sure I looked at the OP's Model 30 before. I am holding out for a two inch.

Welcome to the club! :D
I'm quite fond of .32s myself.
I have a 2" 30-1, 3 & 4" 31-1s and a 16-4.
The little 2" Model 30 was my late wife's gun. She loved that little thing. ;)

This one just came in and was put out today.

The Gun Library website is usually well behind the store's acquisition time. The Model 19 and the others I posted aren't listed yet.

The store is only 20 minutes from me so I go a couple of times a week. The good deals don't last long.

If you plan on carrying that gun, you might want to swap out the stocks for something more hand filling. I got the pink stocks for my granddaughter.

As a new member of the M30 club congratulations! Love my M30-1 4inch. Looks like you have a great find.

Here's my contribution. I guess it's in the same class anyway. A "third model, hand ejector." A little I frame who's S/N put's it about 1920 or so. It's been refinished, and has period incorrect stocks, but mechanically seems to in very good shape.

I should take it to the range with me this morning. I've got 32 Long ammo reloaded. I know I've fired at least 50 rounds through it, but I don't think I've fired it since the first weekend I had it.

Just a quick mention, but I did take the 32 shown above to the range yesterday and put 50 rounds of my reloaded ammo through it. I was really surprised how well that little thing shot. I was only shooting at 5 yards, but once I figured out where to hold it was right on.

I had put some orange nail polish on the front sight, but removed that after I got home. I'm going to try it again next trip. Whoever said they're addictive called it right.

I'll play too!

This model 30-1 belonged to my late brother-in-law. His father was a Maine State Trooper, and he carried it as an off duty piece. There are a few blemishes in the finish, and the stocks are somewhat worn. However, there is no visible turn line, so I don't think it was shot very much.

Serial number dates it to 1969:or 1970

My sister gifted it to me after my brother-in-law's untimely death in January. RIP Jeff…

I picked it up today. A little Flitz and a little Ren Wax and it was looking pretty good.

The grips are numbered to the gun and there's an N on the grip frame and under the barrel. The grip pin thingy was gone, but the grips went on nice and tight with its new BK installed.

I have a stash of R-P .32 Longs and some PMC .32 ACPs. Wednesday is range day so I'll see if it shoots then.

The 19-4 that started all this was gone, but the $129 Safety Hammerless was still there. I was surprised to see this holster worn but tight DS hadn't sold.

It shoots!

The vintage R-P .32 Longs all went off and landed in a decent group at 15 yards. Almost no recoil and a very subdued report.

The ACPs worked well, with one that just wouldn't go off despite a solid hit. Good for the range but I probably won't carry them.

I may try some Buffalo Bores in it before I put it in my pocket for fun.
