Unfortunately, my Sambar Stag fever started too late in life to be able to get and afford the really nice ones for gun grips. But, this caused me to branch out into knives. Check some of these out. The first picture is various Case knives. The second picture is a matched serial numbered set from around 1980 with scrolled bolsters. I also have a decent number of Great Eastern Cutlery knives with Sambar Stag handles, but unfortunately, they aren’t in a group picture. Great Eastern still gets some fantastic Sambar Stag, but it is very difficult to get their knives these days.:(

Picked this up off G.B. awhile ago...bid on it just for kicks because of the Sambar scales, won it and found out it has a historical value as well.

Love the Sambar pics! I’ve had this beautiful old set for a while but was disappointed with the fit on my 80’s 2.5” Python. I then put them on this new 3” and wala, the fit and feel in my hand is perfect!

Once the temp hits 40 here this afternoon I’m gonna run some rounds thru it. [emoji41]

I used Hawg Rider’s recipe of laying down a base layer with RIT yellow followed by Fiebing’s walnut leather dye. Dabbing on each coat with a cotton strip, let dry, wipe down, repeat. I only used a single coat of the leather dye as it is some serious stuff.

Wow, those are some beautiful handles.
When I was a young man, my dad taught me how to avoid catching Sambar Fever and similar ailments. It’s all about keeping your wallet in your pants. You follow this simple practice, and you’ll stay out of trouble.
