I have to be more tolerant

That's according to my sister. She texted me yesterday and said she and her husband saw the new Midway movie. Said it was excellent and gave her a perspective of what our GI's went through in WWII. Our Dad was at the Battle of the Bulge, and her deceased Father-in-Law was also in WWII.

I texted back and said I would not watch it because that jerk Woody Harrelson was in it, and I can't stand Socialist actors or people for that matter.

She then texted back and said "I should be more tolerant of other people's views". I said "no way, I'm 76 years old and am not about to change".:D
She also mentioned that some members of our family are not of our political persuasion, and asked if I disliked them too. I said, "no, I can tolerate them to a certain point".;)
She texted back and said "we love you". I didn't answer back.

I am 101% with you Mr. Graf. Tolerance of these people, their actions and what they are doing to us is what has brought us to where we are today. I for one am more than a little beyond fed up with them, and tolerate is something I refuse to do. To tolerate is to enable, I say throw it right back at them.

Re: Actors, movies. Not worth arguing about. JMHO. Sincerely. bruce

I'm the same. I don't give a rat's about a performer's politics or personal habits provided they play the role well for the duration of the movie. Once the credits roll most of them are of no further interest.

bgrafsr,

Your sister is a gracious lady.

She wanted to share a sentiment with you
about the sacrifices of war.

You are lucky to have her.

I know. She is the youngest of 9 siblings, I'm the oldest. We get along great, as do all of us siblings. I like to yank chains once in a while though, and I do love them all as well.

They are actors, not used to reality. Hollywood is all make believe, the actor tries to be the person they are playing. I don't care one whit for what their political views are and would suggest that I am more knowledgeable on the subject.

People like DiNiro or Streisand, are excellent in their skill, no so much in their personal views. I do admit to avoid anything with Jane Fonda or Julia Roberts in it.

A very good cop friend of mine cut off all contact with his only son because of politics. Harsh words, bad feelings, blah blah blah. His son died of an aneurysm at 32. I thought my friend's wife would crumble and die.

I don't expect my family or friends to share my beliefs. I tolerate theirs. It isn't a bad word.

My daughter is the most adorable purple-haired liberal you've ever seen. I raised her to think for herself, and she does. I love her more than life itself and she loves me. Why would I let something as ridiculous as politics get in the way of that?

Movies? I could not possibly care less about the politics of an actor. Have you ever sat through the credits at the end? Lots of folks there. I have it on good authority most key grips and foley men are staunch conservatives. They need work, too.

I'm convinced most of the "I'll never see a movie with xxxx in it" people actually haven't been to a movie theater since Lawrence of Arabia.

Well, put sigp220.45. Well put indeed, sir!

sigp220.45 can I have your autograph?

Ditto all that.

I have liberal family members, and love them all. We avoid political discussions and all is well. We tolerate each other's differing opinions, and just avoid contentious subjects.

The only actors I really despise enough that I refuse to watch their movies are the ones who rail against violence with guns, then turn around and make millions off of portraying violent people with guns. That kind blatant hypocrisy is something I won't tolerate - or spend my money to support. For example I used to really like Liam Neeson, and Mat Damon. Not any more.

If you want to make money, you do not remake Charleton Heston movies. Not a complicated idea, but it seems to be stumping Hollywierd.
