If any of you good folks remember I went and got ticked off at my new boss and returned the work truck bare of my tools one sunday night at 11pm firmly quitting my Job without another in sight.
And you know something?
It was the best feeling I have had for quite a while!
I wound up going several months with no job and no unemployment, But it too was a great feeling,
I got a job as a building engineer in an old hospital which closed down 5 years ago,, Now it is turning into office space and is a total of 700,000 Sq ft with about 300,000 rented and I oversee all the HVAC equipment, Plus get to wander the halls looking at all the cools stuff left behind.
I also have started a new and odd hobby as well.
Repairing antique radios!
I work on these buggers both small and large and replace all the tired capacitors and resistors and get them working again, Plus I go in and install a 1/8" plug so you can plug in your MP3, Laptop, Ipod and the like so you can listen to what ever you wish!
I havent been buying too many firearms, But have secures a couple real nice pieces.
The radios come cheap when not working and sell for some good coin when done right, We are saving for a house right now, So value is important.
So that's about it folks!
Here's a couple pics of the radios I have done,
This one is a Zenith from 1938.
Automatic tuning and sounds great!

The one on the right is a Zenith, From 1939, Also a great sounding set!
The one on the left I bought in the package deal and sold as is for the price of both!

Here's a Telefunken from 1956.
6 speakers filled with German radio building at it's best,
Real big sound... WIll trade for nice revolver

Just finished this cute little Zenith cube from 1938.
Wonderful sound!

I dont know what it is.
Smith and wessons from the 50s and Zeniths from the late 30s really call to me!
Guys gotta keep busy and buying sets for $20 bucks, Spending 4 hours on them and selling them for a couple hundred is a good thing!
Hope that all of you are well!

Sounds like you made it through the storm just fine! Nice to see the old hobby is back too. Nice sound machines you've got there. Welcome back Sir!

Life is good, indeed. Congratulations on your new job and hobby; welcome back.

Be safe.

I can just see kids sitting in front of those old radios listening to Gunsmoke, The lone Ranger or Superman. I listen to the old radio shows on XM satellite radio. I'm a truck driver and those old shows sure pass the miles. I wonder what they would sound like on the old radios.

Welcome back and congrats on landing on your feet with an interesting job and a very cool hobby. Those large radios reminded me that it will soon be time to put "A Christmas Story" into the DVD player. "... It was coming faster to me. What was she trying to say? Be sure..., be sure to... ". That movie never gets old. :D

Are you rehabbing old radios for customers who bring them to you or are you buying old radios and rehabbing them for sale?

Old music like anything from the rat pack, Ella and the like sound way better to my ear, If you are ever in the Phila area, You'de be welcome to stop in!
And I just started buying them and fixing them up, Sell a couple on Ebay and give some away to friends-Relatives, Some folks have absolutely no interest in a vintage radio, But others do,, Our across the street neighbor caught sight of on the other day and she is sick of her Ipod dock and it's sound quality, So now she's going to come over and take a look at some sets and see inf anything blows her dress up.
This may take off,
All these folks in their 20s to 30s seem to want something old that does something new, And does it well.
Who knows where it will go.
But I have to go to work now.
