I've always wanted a sight adjustment tool, and have seen them in the classifieds here, but they always seemed high priced. Today at the thrift store I found a baby screwdriver for 50 cents. The whole drive home I was thinking I finally got a s&w screwdriver for a price I could handle.

It has 9 rows of knurls, is all steel(magnetic handle and shank), and a hole in the top. Measures 3.25 inches long.

Some quick searching found an all black one that looks similar that was pre-war, but I don't know if mine has just lost it's finish or is different. Any help with vintage or verify that it is indeed a s&w driver would be nice.

Here's a couple quick pics.

Unfortunately, yours is not the pre-war variety. They are much smaller. It still has good value - probably in the $75 to $100 range.

Thanks, I've always wanted one and it sounds like I got a heck of a bargain. So it is definitely a legit s&w sight tool? It doesn't have any markings, but it has a great weight to it and makes me happy so that's all I need.

Great score - this is why is always pays to look, especially in places/shops the wifey may drag into you that wouldn't normally frequent or be enthralled with . . . even blind hogs find the occasional acorn :p

Darn my K22 masterpiece in 22lr came with the gold box, cleaning rod and screwdriver too. I didn't know the accessories were worth that much.

Nice find!
Reminds me. Little old lady always had a table with a bunch of junk, take your pick, $2 and $5 etc. She also had big margarine tub of small odds and ends for $1. I'm rooting around through it and there is a Colt hammer shroud in great condition complete with the horsey on it. No screws though. It pays to scrounge around sometime.

Reminds me of the 1930s era N frame grips with the large silver medallions that I found in a pawn shop once. They were in an old ratty cigar box with a bunch of other plastic aftermarket grips. The card on the box said "your choice, 6 bucks". They are a little banged up but match the condition of my Brazilion that had the military style on it at the time.

I wouldn't have paid more than 48 cents for that. :D

Good for you!
Nice find.
Hawkeye is right- always check sewing machines, tool boxes, and fishing tackle boxes.

I am still waiting patiently for the day the same thing happens to me. Congrats on your find!

Just a few nights ago, I was restacking my Smith boxes and begin to open each one and take a look. Been a long time since I paid any attention to them. My wife was confused as to why I was so excited to find two original Smith screwdrivers "sight adjustment tool", that I didnt know I had. She just didn't get it.
