Have a great trip! Alaska / Anchorage is beautiful! I was stationed at Elmendorf AFB for a while, and had the opportunity to see a lot of the state from the air. Simply amazing. The sites from the ground were nice too!

You'll like it.

DelavanKs: What line did you book through. My bride and I are about to book with regent for a 40th anniversary cruise next July. We have never been to Alaska and have never done a cruise before. We are impressed with Regent, (especially being all inclusive), and have heard many good reports

Erich, if you are interested I can cure Gina, or anyone else of mal de mer. There is no reason to suffer. A simple over the counter remedy properly taken is about 90+% effective. As a boat captain who frequently garnered at least half of his income from tips I sought and found a cure. Nobody tips much if they have been feeding the fish. (o;

Erich,

If you pick the right time, the weather is beautiful (not uncomfortably cool). If you take the inside passage, there is very little motion. The water in the glasses on the ship's table didn't shake as much as as it does on our dining room table. My wife is also susceptible to motion sickness and she never had any discomfort. You are never out of sight of land so the chance of sea sickness is pretty remote.

I highly recommend the trip. Some of the most spectacular scenery in the world.

Wayne02,

Those pictures bring back great memories. Especially remember the icebergs reflected in the stateroom glass door. Having that balcony is very much worth the small additional price.

Thanks.

I have been absolutely mezmerized over Alaska lately. I just finished a deal on my latest S&W acquisition from Forrest Bowers. He's a frequent poster here on our Forum. He lives in Unalaska which is on the southwest portion of the state...or I guess it would really be the Aleution Islands. I googled his area and can only imagine what it must be like to live there. And it just so happened that the discovery channel had "Alaska Week" on TV. Such a beautiful part of the country.
Lots of bears (and meese

). I found it interesting that lots of their cities don't have any roads in or out. You get there either by sea or by air. I think you are gonna love your trip. Enjoy.

My wife and I spent 4 weeks in June of '07 fishing and exploring the Kenai Peninsula. One of the greatest experience of our lives. We're planning to return in 2010. Enjoy your trip, Alaska is amazing and the people are nice too.

Aloha,

Make sure you get one of the newer digital cameras with up to 20 to 1 Optical zoom.

You Will Need it.

Lots of beautiful photo oppertunities. Lots of WIDE andgle and TELE photo shots abound.

A Polarizing filter wouldn't hurt to cut glare/reflections.

Take LOTS of photos.

Most cameras also can do pretty good video too.

So, get the largest film card you camera can use and get more than you think you may need.
Better to have and not need than Need and not have.

Enjoy the food and have a great time.

We went 8 yrs ago in June. Weather was just fantastic! Sunshine & blue skies 95% of the time.
I took a heliocopter ride up to the top of the glacier and loved it.
We did just the in-land-cruise. Just day stops in ports but it was great.

I hope to spend a summer up there when I retire.
