I just joined the NRA

I'm going to ask three friends tomorrow if they are members.

If not, I will try to convince them.

Think any of you could find three additional people to join this week?

Also, write or email your US Senator and Congressman.

Be polite, concise and professional.

Doesn't take more than 15-20 minutes.

The presidential election did not turn out as I expected because the "other side" was prepared and mobilized.

The current holder of the office of President resides there because people stayed home and did nothing on November 6th.

Let us not fail to learn from that with the situation we now face.

I myself joined the NRA 2 weeks ago, and have been emailing my US Senators and House Representative which are all Republicans that support the 2nd Amendment and no new gun control.

And now for the bad news.

Personally, I do not think universal NICS checks are inherently bad.

We already have laws that says certain people should not have guns. So long as a NICS check is simple, fast, cheap and not used for unsavory purposes, I do not have a problem with it. I already have to deal with that in New Jersey, and it has been an inconvenience, but not IMHO, an infringement on my Constitutional RTKBA.

But here's the good news. The individuals on the Keep and Bear side of the 2nd Amendment are willing to talk and debate and engage in reasoned discourse on this subject.

Perfection is not with mortal man. The NRA is our voice and an intelligent and lawful one. Welcome aboard!!!!

In Il, whenever we buy ammo or a gun, we show our FOID card and they charge $5 for a NICS run. Must be run everytime. So I've been checked out so many times I have no problem with that. Especially if it stops the wrong people from getting guns and causing those mass shootings. We the legal owners have nothing to worry about. But we can't let the gun grabbers go any further than a NICS check or it will guarantee more reasons to stop law abiding from buying or owning.

I joined today too. I've been on the fence because like others have said, I don't agree with everything they say. What put me over the edge was the latest potential NY legislation. The proposed law is completely outrageous, and even more scary is the fact that NY gun owners don't have the political support to stop it. I'll be damned if I will let a nationwide law limiting guns to seven rounds be passed uncontested. Plus with the link ladder13 posted, I'd be crazy not to join. Its basically free! https://membership.nrahq.org/forms/signup.asp?CampaignID=bassprowy

Here in my part of the Garden State, there is no hope of influencing my legislators to support the 2nd Amendment. I have no doubt that my elected representatives would vote to repeal the 2nd Amendment rather than protect it.

However, I hope my membership in the NRA can help to sway legislators that are on the fence.

Just renewed my membership......let it lapse a few years ago but we need it now............
