Taurus' customer service telephone number has really cool "hold" music. Sort of like the soundtrack to an Italian western movie.

I've owned 3 Taurus revolver and 1 rifle. The rifle was reworked 4 times for lack of feeding. Replaced, worked on 3 times for lack of feeding. Replaced and the replacement had no firing pin. Brand new no firing pin. Dealer refunded my money in cash plus 20 percent of additional store credit.

2 of these revolvers would never fire in double action. Ever. Factory ammo of different brands. Both worked on 3 times each with each return being a heavier and heavier main spring. Upon 4 return they refunded money because they could not get them to fire in double action. My question. Was why did they keep sending them back.

But the 1 revolver fired fine. It did.

It's the internet, you will be able to find someone who hates anything and everything you bring up. I've owned 4 Taurus guns. All have been flawless, and they continue to be for their current owners. (I sold them simply because unlike Smiling Larry tells you, a man can have too many guns. At least according to my wife)

solution ... get a second wife, thus doubling your firearm allowance;)
 
Well, that's what I thought. I have several Taurus revolvers that are reliable, accurate and function with any ammo I feed them. I really haven't had a problem with my Taurus firearms.
 
I have had a few of the Taurus semi-autos that were built on the Beretta tooling. Absolutely flawless.

For revolvers I'm an S&W guy except for the occasional Colt that slips in.
 
I also own a Taurus, a Judge Magnum. So far, it shoots reliable and awesome! I really wanted the S&W Governor but it wasn't in my budget. I have to admit, I love shooting the 410 ammo, 5 pellets of 000 buck times 5 shots is a lot of fun! But mix in 225 gr 45 long colt, and you have a great mix of rounds!
 
Well I started this. And I know you all are happy to hear that the music is nice. I've owned two Taurus revolvers, one has been flawless, the other is going back. The bad one is the 22 caliber revolver and I should have checked the internet - even the Taurus forum hates it! The good one is the model 85 38 and it is generally praised. So internet talk has been reality in my small sample.
 
Only Taurus I have is a .22 semiauto, the knockoff of the Winchester Model 63. The precision and finish (especially the wood finish) is not up to Winchester standards, but I have yet to experience any performance issues. From childhood I always wanted a Model 63. Originals are quite expensive, and the Taurus was a reasonably-priced alternative, and I am happy with it. I don't know if Taurus still makes it, but if so, it has my recommendation.
 
When S&W and Taurus were owned by Bangor Punta in the early 70s, the Taurus revolvers (made on Smith gear in Brazil) were pretty darn solid. I had a model 82 in .38, I believe it was, and it shot like a dream. I traded it for a SS prop for my boat...wish I had it back now.
 
Last week at the range, the guy next to me sees my 686PC and shows me his new Ruger Match Champion. Then he picks up his semi-auto Taurus and says its junk and has never worked right. That's the only Taurus I've seen in action, so to speak.
 
Go on a "Taurus forum" and ask which is better
and they will say that S&W is a piece of **** :rolleyes:

I had a PT 92 that shot patterns..not groups..sold it. I have a 9mm semi right now that's either in my bed or in one of my vehicles when we leave home. It is very reliable. Shoots Federal 147 gr Hydrashocks great. But I also keep a S&W 25 in 45 Colt on the bedstand for critter control. We even have wolves come right up in our yard. Coyotes mountain kitties and not long ago a bear too. Something ate my wife's cat. She was PO'd

Well I've defended Taurus guns before, but when they start eating cats I can no longer condone them.
 
Well I don't think it was a Taurus that ate the cat...but today my neighbor found a dead horse. we got a hole dug and buried it. No way to prove what killed it...But it wasn't MY Taurus lol. I have a friend with a little Taurus 22 kit gun. Like a S&W 63..but not as good a shooter. Many FTFs.
 
Only Taurus I've owned was a very old, worn (no finish left) M65, a clone of the Smith 65. Fine mechanically, accurate enough. Sold it when I was short of cash.

I've looked at their M92, but never shot it. Seemed well made. I've heard good reports from people who owned them.

That model is built in the same factory and equipment of the original Beretta 92. You would think they could get it right.??

I think the problem with Taurus is they make to many different models of guns, they should slim down their offerings.

They have the equipment and technology, they have nice designs on their semi autos. I had a couple semi auto 9mm Pt 111 . It worked just fine. Not a tack driver but never had a issue with it. Their 1911 is supposed to be good. Their revolvers have some issues.
