Just Added This To The Arsenal...

They're old but they're still rewarding to take to the range with good hand loads.

Yeah whitecoyote, a '17 Colt counts when it comes to .45 ACP revolvers.

After 30 years of owning and using S&W revolvers in the normal vanilla calibers of .38/.357 and .44 Mag., I recently bought a 625-2 in... (drum roll please) .45 ACP. With plain Jane 230 gr. ball it routinely produces SA and DA groups that at 15-25 yds. are simply outstanding. I have not yet found a way to set a target up at more than 25 yds. I mostly have to shoot at 15 yds., since only when the owner of the property moves some equipment can I fire at 25 yds. But I have had enough revolvers/pistols to know that this one is really remarkable. From what everyone else said in advising me to buy the revolver and from my limited experience, I think the .45 ACP in N Frame S&W revolvers is a happy stroke of genuis born of war-time necessity and justified by ongoing experience. JMHO. Sincerely. brucev.

I to love a N feame in 45, only mine is a 625 mountain gun in 45lc that has been mach for moon clips. I love this gun and it shoots so smooth. I will not sell this gun, it just shoots to good to let it go!

I ordered some reproduction grips & lanyard loop for this the other day:

Can you post a pic when your lanyard is isntalled? I want to see where it ends up in order to not obstruct the serial number (i.e., been thinking of doing the same on mine.)

TIA

bmcgilvray, those are some mighty fine .45's you have there. Do they use the same moon clips or are they brand specific?

Hi Lobo;

The clips are interchangeable between the two revolvers.

I don't really enjoy handling clips but they certainly are handy for reloads. Pretty effective concept, the clips.

What a great thread!

My favorite...

Model 28-2 modified from .357 Mag to .45 ACP with 6 3/8" barrel.

I noticed there was only one 325 TR in this thread. What gives? I'm kind of considering buying one but there is little feedback. I have a 327 TRR8 and like the weight and balance. I figured the 325 TR would be a nice complement.

Mine's not a 325TR. It's a 325NG. It's my daily carry gun.

I have shot several different factory loads in my 325 NG.

From 185 Semi Jacketed Wadcutters, some 185 +P, some 230 factory RP Auto Rim, but mostly 230gr ball and HP.

The gun shoots them fine.

The sights are spot on with 230gr ammo.
