For some reason, I just couldn't group well with my old 6906. Shots were way high. So I sold it and bought a very nice 5903. I've had one or two of those in the last, plus at least 3 5906's and a couple of 915's.
I took my new to me 5903 to the range today. Shredded the center of the target at 15 yards. Opened up a bit at 25, but still in the kill zone. Double action trigger is nice and smooth. No issue with transitioning to SA (I prefer that operating system as I also love Berettas). Feel much more comfortable decocking and holstering with my thumb on the hammer. Not to mention they are much better looking than anything plastic.
I have a Ruger SR9 thst I am also very proficient with, but still a bit more careful holstering a striker fun, even one with a safety.
I love this gun. S&W should never have stopped making those. I know they're in the business to make money, but most shooters who came on the scene since they discontinued them don't even know about the 3rd gen's. They just think striker fired is the way to go since it's pretty much their only option.
