As some will know the wife bought me a Hornady LNL for Christmas... and since then and a procurement of a litteny of reloading dies and equipment etc I have to say this press works fantastic, Now given it like most presses needs a tweak here and there and I have had my share of smushed brass:o but for those that are mechanically inclined she works like a charm... Loaded a couple of thousand 44 magnum and 357 magnum 500 is next:D rounds shoot great. I think as with most presses initially its user error...

My 02

Go Red:D

I've crushed a lot of brass in Hornady and RCBS sizing dies. Then I bought my first set of Lee dies. Now I have about twenty sets of Lee dies.

I saw the lock-n-load presses at the NRA convention I felt sorry for the guy demonstrating one of them. It kept jamming up. If it wasn't the cases getting stuck, it was the bullets. You would think that if you had one of these at a booth - at a national convention - that it would be tweaked to run perfectly, every time. I felt genuinely sorry for the guy. He seemed pretty embarrassed.

I load a lot of lead bullets for pistol calibers, so my old slow RockChucker fits the bill for me.

I'm glad yours works well for you. I typically love Hornady stuff. I only use Vmax bullets in my .223 reloads. They have better consistency from bullet to bullet (in my opinion) than any other manufacturer on the planet.

Was the crushing from the case hitting the side of the sizing die, or something else? Just wondering since I don't have any Lee dies and am curious if they have a wider "mouth" than the others.

My issue with smushed brass wasn't at resizing depriming, I had a couple of bullets fall over after placement due to not enough flare on the case. A smidgen of a turn took care of it. Operator error and note to self kind of situation.

I load 9mm, 40 S&W, 45APC, and 5.56 on my LnL. I use Lyman, Lee, RCBS, and Hornady dies. The only issues I have had is with the Hornady sizing die in 9MM. Unless well lubed, I was having sticking issues. That is the reason for using a Lee sizing die in 9MM, it has worked very well. I also use a Lee factory crimp die in 5.56 as it also works well.

For all pistol loads I use an RCBS Lock Out Die as it really keeps you honest.;)

I am currently loading 9mm on my LNL with hornady dies. I was having problems with the machine sticking on the down stroke and it was from the resizing die. I backed out the sizing die bout .5-1.5 turns and its works like a charm now. Im shooting the bullets in my Glock 34 so chambering them is not an issue. Just backing the die out a bit might help you out.
