Soooo .... this is my 3rd "3rd gen" Smith in the last few months - could this be a problem? This forum doesn't help my current obsession.

They are great looking guns - I think the 3914 is one of the best looking Autos *period*.

The 1st one - a 952 ... found this one on another forum and it was a deal - so why not ... Been shooting PPC with it.

My 1st experience with a 952 was with my "gun guru" buddy and we shot an old tube TV over 20 years ago - I have the pictures somewhere to prove it !

2nd - CS9 ... I started out shooting with one of these many moons ago and always wanted one for myself, so why not?

3rd - 3914DAO .. most recent one. From lurking around here and tell myself that I don't have a DAO only automatic - I talked myself into it :)

Seems to be "complete" with the box, 3 mags and S&W paperwork

In looking at the other posts on the DAO guns - I think this one may have been one of "overruns" and sent Lipsey's in LA based off a S&W letter another member had posted with this serial numbers range ... interesting stuff.

The question is - what to get next? Let me know what to look for ....

The 3914DAO may be a return when NYPD removed it from the authorized list. Or it may have just been put together from parts that were left over.

A lot of "unusual" things happened at the end of 3rd Gen production.

Be careful , those PC guns have a way of getting ahold of you and not letting go . I was looking at 952's until I was offered a 5in and 6in Target Champion which are both awesome 9mm shooters . Now you just need to get a 40 & 45CS . I had BMCM modify my CS40 to 10mm , quite the carry weapon .

I’ve never seen that extremely prominent and bolt font SMITH & WESSON on the slide as shown on your 3914 DAO. Admittedly, these are not the S&W guns that I fawn over. 🤷‍♂️

If you are a handloader, I think your next S&W semiautomatic should be a Model 52!

Problem ... What Problem ... I don't see no problem !

You just Keep On Keeping On !

What's next ... How about something in 10mm Auto ?

3rd Gen’s are my favorite to collect. It’s not an obsession, it’s a passion. 😉

OP, nice collection. Thanks for the great photos. I'm a big Gen3 fan too, and my EDC is a 3953 in a Don Hume H715-M WCS holster.

I'm currently carrying my 3913TSW in a Clinger holster, but every time I see a H715-M I think I should buy one. I recently noticed that they make one with a body shield, which I like even more.

I just never ends.

The holster I listed is the one with the sweat shield. They are a great IWB option. Gunner's Alley sells Don Hume and MTR Custom Leather holsters often at a discount.

I'll check them out. I've been looking on the Hume website so far.

Problem? No problem here and you are in good company .At three you're just getting started. I don't have any 3rd gen guns but I'm at 58 1st and 2nd gen guns including pre 39, 39, 39-2, 439, 539, 639, 59, 459, 559, 659, 52, 52A, and a 147A. 12 of them are engraved. Yes it's an addiction.
