"I Mean Business!" - a 3" 13-2 Engraved to Carry

...However, I also think the barrel is too long.

...if it was shorter, it would have less room for engraving...:D

...also, it would not have a full length extractor rod...

It's a beautiful gun but I would never consider carrying it. In most places, should you have to use a gun to defend yourself - to the extent you have to shoot someone - the police will confiscate the gun for evidence, and I've heard some real horror stories about their condition when (if) returned. I'm a firm believer in reliability of a carry gun, and won't cheap out in that regard, but I'd not pay the extra for engraving on the off chance the gun ending up in the evidence lockup.

Richard,
You sir, certainly have a certain sense of style. I consider the 3" 13 / 65 to be the epitome of a duty / carry revolver. I will admit I am somewhat biased on that subject having carried & shot 65's since the 70's.
P. Quigley's craftsmanship is world class. Always impressive, works of art in metalworking.
IMO a perfect blend of a pragmatic approach to a defensive sidearm, enhanced with a one of a kind embellishment to suit your particular taste.
Well done.

Richard,
You got to know I'm liken that one for sure...…
I carry an engraved sidearm quite often.

To the nay sayers & nervous ol' nellies...I say, life is too short to worry
about losing a sidearm in a dust-up...No hand wringin here. Gees...…..

Back when I was doing business,
I carried this custom stainless Gov't Model for several years....

I'm not a fan of engraved guns, at least not to the extent that yours is engraved, but I have to admit it is beautiful work. Maybe some of the best engraving I've seen, gun or otherwise.

While I, personally, wouldn't want to carry a gun like that, I see no problem with you carrying it if that's what suits you.

And I agree with those who say that it deserves some custom leather gear, maybe something along the lines of what some Texas Rangers have been known to use.

I have been inspired to create my own.

Starting with a donor 13-3.

Drop it in some bluing remover, soak for 90 minutes, and wipe down with Scotch-Brite and a damp rag. There, all bluing removed.

Next step was to swap in a factory spurless hammer.

Ryan:

:eek::eek: Please tell me that's a Model 65... But... if you're determined to press forward with a little Dremeling on that beauty, you might need a few more Dremel tips...;):cool:

Richard-I always enjoy your photos. I saw this post right now. I just put 100 rounds downrange with my 4" 13-2. I love those K-frames. I say carry those engraved guns every day. I've seen your photos. You have plenty where this one came from and your N-frames are a little large. If some holster wear starts bothering you, call me. I can scrape together cash when needed.......

[emoji14] Just messing with you guys. No revolvers harmed in this thread. Was a 13 and a couple 65s.

But, as I mentioned....your custom Model 13 is one of my favorite guns from this site. It has inspired me to have a carry snub, probably a 60 or 640, engraved by somebody here in NC.
