I need a pole barn....

My blacksmith shop is 16'x24' pole building. I cut Eastern Cedar poles,
charred 30" and buried the charred end 24-28 inches. Poultry house
metal for the roof and sides. My friend, who died this past Feb, and I
built the shop in 3 days. Floor is crusher run small limestone gravel.
Overhang of 18" on the eaves and 12" on the ends. After several
years, there is no deterioration of the poles. I did give $1.00/running foot for the metal plus nails, screws and liquid nails to plug old nail
holes.
If I lived in town the city would probably not allow this. That isone of
the reasons I live in the country.

When we built our retirement home, I wanted a pole barn to cover the boat and stuff. My builder was not familiar with them and talked me into a stick-built shop. I'm glad he did, the added expense is worth it to me.
If you have the budget, consider one.

Depending on the size of your structure I will recommend one large door vs. two smaller ones. We retrofitted two 10' wide doors to a 22' wide door. We would have saved a lot of money had we done the 22' door in the first place.
