I have the OD green 15-22 and I bought the magpul MOE carbine stock in OD green, but turns out they are not the same color. The color is not off by much but the stock is darker than the gun. I'm a little OCD and its driving me crazy that it doesn't match. So I want to paint the stock to match my gun. Any suggestions on how I should do this or what kind of paint? Anything to help is appreciated.

Duracoat would be a good choice, but in order to get everything to match perfectly, you'd have to paint the entire rifle.

Man I really don't want to do that. I might just send it back and get a black one.

My 15-22 has a OD green grip, Foliage green rail covers, and a FDE folding rear sight. My wife calls the rifle "Patches". Your target doesn't care what color your rifle is.

Just sayin...

Or you could do a CAMO paint job, then when it wears or chips its easy to recoat just that area.

DuraCoat is best for as much polymer/plastic there is in the manufacture of the 15-22. Krylon Spray Paint will work but touch ups will be required to maintain. Unless you like that well used look which in some cases is cool.

go with black. grip- black, mag- black, barrel- black body/ upper- od green, trigger/ lower- od green great color sets. add black magpul flip up sights.

Well I posted this a while ago. Here is what I have done since then.

Allen 1 ,Yes I painted it, Just rattle can. Tried Duracoat, its good paint but as in paint either it wears or chips. Chipping seems to be the case with duracoat, but wears well, Krylon Camo paint wears and chips a little. Nice thing though its easy to touch up a Camo pattern. I drew and cut the Digital stencils. But Pure digital fine lines are hard. so near the end i got furstrated and did more of a Muted or Multicam pattern.

I should of learned my lesson from my Jeep Camo job. Ill never do a hand Digital paint job again. Ill do the Muted or Multicam pattern.

Different colors breakup the weapon's outline even when not camo painted. I thought this looked gay until I saw it in the field. Monolithic color only blends into one (1) background. Wrong camo pattern in wrong environment stands out like desert or ACUs in Woodland.

This stock was listed as FDE, just like the handgards. Doesn't match. The pistol grip is Brownells Alumahyde Coyote spray paint that matches MagPul FDE.

(Not an M&P15-22.)
