Tonight I sit in a puddle of tears.......
I had to have my boy Bub put down.:(

He was 12+ years old, and over the last year he had slowly went down hill to the point where getting up and walking was painful for him even though he tried not to show it.

He had lived a long good life but I could not sit and watch him suffer any more.

I know in time the pain I feel in my hart will fade. But today. I miss my best friend :( :( :(

I hope you live long enough to put down a few more Bobs, and my condolences.

RIP Bob.

I am sorry for your loss. My current greyhound is almost 9 years old, but like your buddy, he is walking slower and slower. I am not looking forward to having to put him down, but don't want to see him in pain either. He is already going blind. But he is my best friend!

They are hard to let go of! But you did what was right! It would have been selfish in my opinion to hang on! That doesn't make letting go any easier!
Sorry for your loss! Like mentioned above, hang on to knowing the life you gave Bub the best life he could have hoped for!

My sincere condolences, It is a terrible twist of fate that most of our animals don't outlive us, and a terrible pain to bear. Thank God Bub had a wonderful owner who gave him a great life, and refused to let him suffer even though it would break his heart. Your a good man Sabre, and I hope your grief is quickly overcome with happy memories.

My heart goes out to you on the loss of Bub. It is a bitter truth that we outlive our pets, and having companionship and unconditional love all wrapped up in a furry package taken from our lives is painful, to say the least. Remember the good times, and when you're ready, there will be another dog willing to be your best friend, and you his (or hers).

I hurt for you. It's terribly painful, I know.

Bub loved you absolutely and without reservation or limit; and because you loved him the same, you did what you had to do for your dear companion. It's part of the contract we make with our four-legged friends, to ease their pain when it's time for them to rest.

You gave him the gentle, loving gift of peace.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

There will be a bigtime at the Rainbow Bridge one of these days.

Hi Sorry for your loss of a Great Friend. They are with us for a Too short of time They are always Happy to see us no matter what mood we are in, or how bad a day we had. Always ready to go along for a ride or a visit to the neighbors. I know your pain as We lost our Izzy today after a emergency surgery on Thursday. He had become lethargic/didn't eat dinner on Wednesday night and went to the vet Thursday AM Surgery in the afternoon Mass on his spleen but not in his lungs Seemed better Friday AM but went down hill and passed 3pm with my wife present at the vets I was 15minutes too late to be with him He was only 10years old and had a job as a Therapy dog are the nursing home where my wife works Went in 3 days a week to brighten the days of the residents Would have gone 5 days if allowed to play ball and just visit. Would lick them all [kisses] The residents are So going to miss him along with us He was kind, smart, well trained [high 5 for a cookie before bed] would fetch the Frisbee till he tripped over his toung , liked to herd the cats but the cats were not intimidated and great with the 3 little grand children. Hard to type as I am in the same condition as you [puddle of tears] Again Sorry for your loss Hope we get to see them again someday RIP Mr. Izzy and Bub till we meet again

Sabre, most of us know the heavy heart that you carry now all too well. That we grieve, bury our beloved family dog in the yard and go forth again to that local shelter, or to your neighbor with a new litter of pups to give away, or perhaps see a forlorn stray near the town dumpsters and give another one a loving home and a chance at a good life full of love and care, is a testament... to what?

To many things, maybe, to choose to love, or as Kipling said so eloquently "to give your heart to a dog to tear", knowing that one day, in God's plan, we will be here again, grieving another good dog gone on...

Me? I thank Him for giving us such fine companions to keep our very hearts company, as I can think of no finer, more loyal friend than a good dog, it's just that in times like these, we give thanks through our tears...

Remember your good dog always, I believe we will see them again some day... I can't imagine Heaven without them.

Maybe in time, there will be another who needs you, needs the love and good care that you gave your Bub boy, right up to the end, there are so many that have yet to find their person to love...
