I really dislike having neighbors!

A fellow once told me: "Everyone has a certain amount of 'good' and a certain amount of 'bad' in them. You have to decide if you are willing to tolerate the 'bad' to enjoy the 'good'". :)

A while back I opened my mailbox to find a letter from my down the street neighbor. Inside was a blank check and a note asking me to spend what ever it took to sound proof my chicken coop. Her gripe was my rooster was waking her up in the morning.
I suggested that she spend the money sound proofing her bedroom.
She don't like me.

You should have wrote in the amount you would sell for and then tell her she owns the place and can fix it to suit herself. Larry

As usual, this brought out some gem-dandy comments, and I enjoyed that, but "DANG" man, you gonna leave us "hanging" ?

I can appreciate what the poster is saying.
I've been lucky enough to have good neighbors all most every where I lived, even in Detroit.
I did however have several bad ones over the years and who needs more stress once you come home from a stressful day. That is why I moved out to the country. Plus now I have my own shooting range.

You should have cashed the check for enough to buy a nice S&W. Then cut the Roosters head off and put him in her mail box. Then buy yourself a new rooster.:D

We moved into our present house in 1999. We are the original owners and our house is on a corner lot of a typical suburban development. The neighbors on our sides are all original owners also. The neighbors on one side are super people and good friends. Their kids and my daughter have been like our extended family. On the other side is a couple with one daughter. They are nice folks that stay to themselves and we say hello when we see each other...On the corner across from our's is another couple who have several boys. I don't know how many. In sixteen years, they have never spoken to any of us. When I have attempted to wave and say hi to the man or woman, they ignored me. We don't even know their names. Its always been like that...weird. New neighbors, F-35s coming to the air station a few miles away, are going to be too loud for us so we will be selling and moving this year...I guess we will never know the names of the people on the corner.

Threads like this make me happy I don't live in a neighborhood. The last time I lived in town was 1979. Where I am it is a farm preservation area and you can not build on less than 10 acres. I have no house beside me and no house in front or behind me. I can shoot any of my guns on my property and no one complains about it. If I don't cut my grass no one cares. Not sure after all these years I could live in a neighborhood. When the kids were growing up at times there was a lot of driving here and there. Even then it was well worth it.

We have had the same neighbors for twelve years, everyone figured out everyone else's business long ago and no longer cares. We all have kids about the same age and have watched them grow up and get in and out of trouble. We talk over the fence and on the sidewalk, and watch each other get older.
