I have what feels like an odd question. How many of you squeak when you walk (this has nothing to do with your spending habits) due to your holstered weapon. I can definitely hear the holster/belt whenever I move. I dont recall reading anything about this when I was researching carry options, but have heard a couple other "squeakers" so I wonder how common this is. Anyone else notice this?

FWIW, I use a Crossbreed Supertuck for my 9c with a gun belt ...and it is pretty noisy!

When I got my Supertuck it had the same issue after about 2 weeks of use. A friend suggested a light sprinkling of baby powder and that did the trick. Only had to do it once....after 6 months it's still squeak free.

I've tried baby powder and it never worked for me. I use Kiwi neutral paste wax. I apply it anywhere leather moves against leather, like the holster belt loops and belt.

I also "squeak" when I walk, click and pop too. It's not the holster but rather the artificial knee. ;)

I solved this problem by purchasing a Wilderness Tactical Instructors belt. They are made out of nylon. With that combo, you don't get the leather on leather creak, but you still get an awesome, sturdy belt suitable for concealed carry.

I've carried everything from an Airweight J frame to a S&W 4506 (read: boat anchor) on this belt and it refuses to sag. When I wear this one out, (this is my 2nd one) I'll buy another one.

They are THAT good!

Hey Glock 'em down,
FYI- you can send your Wilderness Tactical belt back to the maker to be rebuilt for around $20. I just sent two belts back and they replaced the velcro on both belts; just call them up and get a return service number from them before shipping the belt back to Wilderness Tactical.

Yeah, I'll do this when the time comes.

My first belt I got the size wrong. I didn't oversize it for IWB carry so it gets used for OWB carry only. My "newest" one (I think it's going on 3 years old now) is oversized for an IWB holster, so it doesn't get worn as much as the other one.

I don't like IWB carry as much as OWB.

When my first one (going on 5 years old now - and still looking sharp) gets to where the velcro has had it, I'll send it in. But as of right now - they are both in tip-top shape.

I just can't say enough good things about these belts.

Of course, I also have a Looper leather kydex reinforced belt that wear on special occasions. ;)

I'm also a fan of the Wilderness Tactical belts and wear their Frequent Flyer model daily. It has the regular 3-stich construction, but holds a 3" or 4" K frame and dump pouch, cell phone, small folding knife, and small flashlight without any problems whatsoever. I have a couple of the Looper belts with the Kydex inserts - their beautiful but when I wear them I feel like I'm slowly being cut in half.

Regards,

Dave

Same here...I have both Wilderness models and they're the only belt I use....my Alessi belt, as nice as it is, never gets used anymore....it's just not as comfortable as the wilderness belts sine it's thicker...and the Wilderness velcro lets me adjust it without using a hole that sometimes is a bit too loose or too tight, depending on what I had for dinner..:)

I solved the squeaking by using a Fobus Belt Holster. Lightweight, maintaince free, and inexpensive. Also negative safety strap to un-snap when drawing. Thus very fast presentation of weapon.

Thanks for the input! Already tried oil, guess I'll try some powder (thought the Monkey Butt stuff was BS 'til I Googled it!) and see if that helps. Also think I'm going to try a Wilderness belt- a lot of folks seem to be happy with them. Thanks again!

I've used Turtlewax with some success. More recently, I just use Kiwi paste shoe polish. It works like a charm and doesn't discolor the leather.

You may never wear a leather belt again. Wilderness belts are THAT good!
